CABARET TONIGHT IN MARYLAND, CHICAGO, SAN FRANCISCO

MARYLAND: THE SOUL CRACKERS WITH TOMMY LEPSON

The Soul Crackers will perform at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Saturday, October 12th at 8:00 pm. The group has been making DC audiences dance to the music for 30 years now. Lead vocalist Tommy Lepson is in the Washington Area Music Association Hall of Fame, and was recently featured at the Montreux Jazz & Blues Festival. Soul Crackers music encompasses Memphis & Motown soul. The Soul Crackers are: Tommy Lepson (lead Vocals and guitar); Ronnie Newmyer (bass and vocals); Chuck Sullivan (drums); Spencer Hoopes (organ and vocals); Dave Egelhofer (lead guitar and vocals); Wayne Sulc (sax); and Chris Hutton (trumpet). Opening for them is Bronwyn Cooper, singer, songwriter, and lead singer in Underline the Sky. Her band opened Virgin Festival, played O2 arena in London, Rockstar energy drink sponsored. She is looking forward to playing her first gig in America. There is a $10 cover.

CHICAGO: THE SOUNDS OF THE FABULOUS 50'S

The Sounds of the Fabulous 50's will be presented at DAVENPORT'S(1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - ) on Saturday, October 12th and Friday, November 1st, both shows at 8:00 pm. The show features Adam Hibma, Ken Baker, and Bob Howell performing favorites from the musicals, groups, and biggest recording artists of the 1950's: Elvis, Nat "King" Cole, Patti Page, Johnny Cash and more! Musical Director: Nick Sula. Director: Scott Gryder. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: ALEXANDRA SILBER AT FEINSTEIN'S

Broadway and West End performer, Alexandra Silber, will appear atFEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) for two performances only - Friday, October 11th at 8:00 pm and Saturday, October 12th at 7:00 pm. Silber returns to San Francisco to make her Feinstein's at the Nikko debut with her one-woman show, The Land Where the Good Songs Go!, after wowing audiences as Maria in recent San Francisco Symphony concert performances of West Side Story. Reveling in the colors and textures of the old-world Broadway soprano sound of the golden days of the musical theater, Silber will perform standards, favorites, classics, songs familiar and "un" - all told with her interpretive depth and signature wit. There is a $30-$50 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: FOURPLAY AT YOSHI'S

The band Foreplay will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Saturday, October 12th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. The Fourplay story begins in 1990, with keyboardist Bob James, who had already established himself as a formidable figure in keyboard jazz - not just as an instrumentalist but as a composer and arranger as well - with solo recordings dating as far back as the mid 1960s. In 1990, James reunited with his old friend, session drummer, producer, composer & recording artist Harvey Mason (Herbie Hancock, Barbra Streisand, Notorious Big), during the recording of James' Grand Piano Canyon album. Also involved in the project were guitarist Lee Ritenour (Sergio Mendes) and bassist/vocalist Nathan East (Barry White, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins). There is a $35 cover.
