Lucille Carr-Kaffashan returns toDON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) with her latest show, Diamonds and Rust: Female Singer- Songwriters of the 1970's. With her long-time musical director, David Brunetti, on piano, and Frank Wagner on bass, Lucille will perform the show on three Saturdays in April: April 14th, 21st, and 28th, all shows at 5:00 pm. With thoughtful and sensitive direction by Eric Michael Gillett, Diamonds and Rust revisits the cultural climate of the 1970's through the voices of ten talented women whose songs both reflected and inspired a generation. Lucille celebrates the work of Carole King, Laura Nyro, Joan Baez, Carly Simon, Janis Ian and other artists whose words and music explored the huge societal shifts associated with the civil rights, women's liberation, and anti-war movements. Their songs challenge, soothe, and entertain us, all the while illuminating an emotional history of America during an era that changed our culture and the way we viewed the world. Lucille performed for a number of years in the regional productions of the New Jersey-based Entertainers Theater before developing her first cabaret act. Since her Don't Tell Mama debut in 1999, she has presented seven different one-woman shows at clubs in New York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, including Mama Rose's, The Encore, Helen's, Odette's, The Stockton Inn, and Bob Egan's Cabaret Supper Club. She has also appeared as a guest performer in special productions at both the Laurie Beechman Theater and the Metropolitan Room. Lucille is the recipient of the prestigious Hanson Award, presented each year to one individual by the Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs. Her most recent cabaret outings were the critically acclaimed shows, Finding Home and In My Life, A Celebration of Beatles Music. Or Will I?" for six performances, on Fridays, April 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th at 7:00 pm, and Wednesdays, May 9th & 23rd, also at 7:00 pm. The show celebrates the work of the Tony and Academy Award winning composer/lyricist, Stephen Sondheim. Along with his long-time collaborator and musical director, Jeff Cubeta, Gillett will put his unique stamp on the wildly diverse catalogue of music by one of the theater's most popular and acclaimed contemporary songwriters. Eric Michael Gillett is a MAC and Bistro Award winning vocalist whose shows have included "Cast of Thousands - Gillett Sings Carnelia," "It Takes Two - The Duets of Stephen Sondheim" (with Melanie Vaughan), and his critically lauded collection of radio songs of the past forty years, "Hook, Line & Singer." Eric Michael has been seen on Broadway in the casts of Kiss Me, Kate, Sweet Smell of Success, and The Frogs. Television appearances include "Law & Order," "Ed," and "Law & Order: SVU," and he was also seen in the feature films Maid in Manhattan, My Brother, The Third Testament and The Producers (on-screen and on the soundtrack). For twelve years, Eric Michael appeared as the Ringmaster of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, touring the continental United States and appearing on countless television and radio programs. The new season of the Concerts for City Greens FREE outdoor concert series resumes on Wednesday, May 30th at 6:30 pm at TUDOR CITY GREENS PARK (enter at Tudor City Place between East 42nd and East 43rd Streets). This event will feature professional performers from Broadway and the New York City cabaret and jazz scene, who all donate their time and talent to benefit the Parks. The concert will be hosted by Tudor City resident, Broadway and cabaret performer Raissa Katona Bennett (Phantom of the Opera, Chess). This May's season opener concert performers TBA. The Concerts for City Greens, the free outdoor concert series, brings the sounds of live music to diverse urban audiences in unique, privately maintained public green spaces across the city. Concert is free and open to the public. Donations are invited.

Funny New York songs by Murray Grand, Kander & Ebb, Sue Matsuki to mention a few, will make you laugh. The patter written by Joan, is so good - there won't be a dry seat in the house. Multi-award winning Jerry Scott is the musical director and arranger for Joan's show, as well as her critically acclaimed CD JOAN JAFFE SINGS FUNNY. Peggy Herman releases a brand new recording of her critically acclaimed show, "Herman on Herman," her tribute to Broadway legend Jerry Herman, at FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) on Sunday May 6th at 7:30 pm. The one-night-only concert features many of the songs from the show's premiere at the Metropolitan Room in May of last year, plus additional material that was added to the project in the intervening months. With arrangements by the renowned music director Alex Rybeck, "Herman on Herman (with a Touch of Merman)" gives the Jerry Herman songbook a whole new spin, lending a fresh take on these classic Broadway show tunes. Backing Herman on Herman are Rybeck on piano, Jered Egan on bass and Rex Benincasa on drums and percussion. The same threesome play on the album, augmented by strings, brass, winds, and guitarist Sean Harkness. "Herman on Herman ... Peggy Sings Jerry" (the CD's title) features exciting new arrangements of songs from "Hello Dolly!" "Mame," "La Cage aux Folles," "Mack & Mabel," and other Herman hits. In the studio, Herman and Rybeck added new songs, including "The Best of Times is Now," "Before the Parade Passes By," and "If He Walked Into My Life." Bistro Award winner, Grace Cosgrove returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, April 29th at 7:00 pm; Monday, April 30th at 7:00 pm; Wednesday, May 2nd at 7:00 pm; Friday, May 4th at 7:00 pm; and Friday, June 8th at 7:00 pm with her new show TIME FOR GRACE. The show is a collection of passionate Laura Nyro songs and exceptional standards from the American Songbook with innovative arrangements by legendary singer Marilyn Maye, who directs; and master musical director Don Rebic with Sean Harkness on guitar. The Tommy Igoe Big Band will perform at RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189 ) on Mondays, April 2nd. 9th, 16th 23rd & 30th at 7:30 pm, featuring 15 of the Bay Area's finest musicians, including members of Tower of Power, Santana and The Doobie Brothers. Drummer Tommy Igoe's Big Band is the hottest big band in NYC, and has been playing to sold out audiences every Friday night at the famed BIRDLAND for the past five years. He brings the same musical acumen to San Francisco, and endeavors to change the face of nightlife on Mondays. Igoe brings his big band pedigree (his father Sonny Igoe was the drummer for Benny Goodman and Woody Herman during the 40s-50s) to create a big band for the 21st Century.
