She has been featured in several films, including Pi, Noon Blue Apples, Revolution Summer, and We Need To Talk About Kevin, and on TV in New Amsterdam and Fringe. Her New York theater credits include: Hillbilly Women, and GO-SEE, ArcLight Theater, and Heathens, Theater For A New City. NYC: BEN RIMALOWER: PATTI ISSUES - TONIGHT

NYC: BEN RIMALOWER: PATTI ISSUES - TONIGHT

Patti Issues will be performed by Ben Rimalower at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Friday, January 11th at 7:00 pm; Saturday, January 12th at 4:30 pm; and Thursdays, January 17th, 24th & 31st at 7:00 pm. Patti Issues mark's Rimalower's debut as a playwright and performer, after serving as the director of numerous Off-Broadway plays, concerts and all-star benefits (and blogging for the Huffington Post). With a mix of comic irreverence, stark candor and show-biz bravado, Patti Issues poignantly explores the challenges facing LGBT parents and children while shining unique light on gay men's time-old obsessions with divas. When Ben Rimalower was eight years old, his father came out of the closet and embarked on a drug-fueled tear that left his family in tatters. Amid the chaos of his young life, Ben found comfort - like so many gay boys before him and after - in musical theater, and specifically in the transportive voice of Broadway star Patti LuPone. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: A Memorial Cabaret Tribute to Michael Nelsen This Saturday

A great friend of cabaret will be remembered on Saturday, January 19th at 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:00 pm) at ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141 - ) when SALON PRESENTS: A Memorial Cabaret Tribute to Michael Nelsen hosted by Julie Reyburn.

Michael Nelsen passed away this summer after a long illness. Mr. Nelsen was a regular audience member in cabaret rooms, not just in NYC but he also regularly travelled to other cities to support his many favorite performers when they appeared out of the NYC area. I considered him a good friend and long time supporter of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. In recent years it was always a special treat to run into Michael at cabaret shows during those periods when his health permitted. He has been truly missed.

There will also be the official announcement of the Michael J. Nelsen Scholarship Fund. This annual memorial scholarship will award monies to an up and coming cabaret performer. Details to be announced at the memorial.

Performances by: Tom Anderson, Scott Coulter, Baby Jane Dexter, Tim Di Pasqua, Natalie Douglas, Terese Genecco, Daryl Glenn, Carolyn Montgomery, Miles Phillips, Shaynee Rainbolt, John Patrick Shutz, Marcus Simeone, and Stacy Sullivan. Musical Director: Mark Janas

There will be no cover charge, but donations will be accepted (cash or check). There is a $15 food/drink minimum per person (cash or credit).

For reservations: tanya@tanyamoberly.com - 646-637-2806.

SIXTH ANNUAL MARCH IS CABARET MONTH PROMOTION CONTINUES

SIXTH ANNUAL MARCH IS CABARET MONTH PROMOTION CONTINUES

Thanks to 5 generous initial sponsors, plus 3 new sponsors, PHASE ONE on our MARCH IS CABARET MONTH PROMOTION is in "full speed ahead" mode - the MARCH IS CABARET MONTH promotional fliers have been ordered and will arrive this weekend. Then comes the task (and expense) of distributing them. The flier has space to add local information and will be made available to anyone who wishes them to promote their local MARCH IS CABARET MONTH programs and shows. I am now seeking a local source for the printing of posters - the online sources are too costly at low runs and then there's that pesky delivery charge. We're hoping that all cabaret clubs, organizations and performers - around the world - will join us in promoting the art and the artists of cabaret during this special month!

The MARCH IS CABARET MONTH kick-off gala will be on Wednesday, March 6th at 7:00 pm at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 - )! The dinner and show will feature speakers and performers from the world of cabaret! A special presentation will be made to one or more persons or organizations which have done outstanding work to promote cabaret in 2012.
Here are the performers who have accepted our invitation to perform so far - out of the 12 invited (in no particular order).

Jon Whitton
Jeff Macauley
Tom Andersen
Tanya Moberly & Steven Ray Watkins
Anthony Santelmo Jr. & Valerie Da Lorenzo
Lucille Carr-Kaffashan
Carly Ozard

A few more will be announced in Saturday's MEMBERS ONLY newsletter.

On January 15th we started Part 2 dealing with the gala promotion and expenses, plus additional expenses to get the word out on this (hopefully) worldwide promotion of cabaret. This includes updating the MARCH IS CABARET MONTH website with information on shows/events by location rather than by date as in the CABARET EVENT LISTINGS pages. We plan to particularly promote the show and events that include the phrase "MARCH IS CABARET MONTH" in their press releases. There will even be MARCH IS CABARET MONTH logos of several sizes that you can include on your own website!
We hope that additional sponsors will step forward to help cover all the expenses of the show itself so that all income from ticket sales can be used to support CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE to help us spread the word of cabaret and the MARCH IS CABARET MONTH programs and events around the world.

Tickets for our 6th Annual MARCH IS CABARET MONTH GALA on March 6th will go on sale on Saturday, January 19th to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE and to the general public on Tuesday, January 22nd via the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE NEWSLETTER on that date.

Tickets for the gala will be $25 each ($35 for VIP) with $5 off for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. All tickets must be ordered online and paid for in advance.

The CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE MARCH IS CABARET MONTH PROMOTION is sponsored in part by the following generous supporters of cabaret:
Marty Geiger
Laura Ainsworth
Lucille Carr KaffashanEric Michael Gillett Bob Diamond
Harold Sanditen

1 Anonymous Sponsor In Memory of Ruth Kurtzman

If you would like to be a sponsor this year, please write for details tostuhamstra@svhamstra.com - sponsors will have their name and website URL (if applicable) attached to all promotional articles we publish on the website, in the newsletters and on the blogs.Sponsors will receive 1 free $35 VIP ticket for every $100 sponsorship. (You can remain anonymous if you prefer).
