MARCH IS CABARET MONTH PLANS BEGIN TAKING FORM

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH PLANS BEGIN TAKING FORM

Tom Stajmiger is again producing the annual CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE MARCH IS CABARET MONTH GALA on Friday, March 4th at 7:00 pm at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC). Don't make your reservations quite yet - we need to set up a special page on the website to take reservations. There is a $30 cover - $25 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. As always, we will announce the opening of ticket sales to MEMBERS OF CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE first, and members will be able to purchase tickets several days in advance of the public.

Now that we have the date at the BEECHMAN locked up, Tom is working on signing up a musical director and performers - 6 performers have been already invited and he's waiting for their responses. So, stay tuned for further reports - we might have more information as early as the Monday newsletter of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

We will shortly be contacting all clubs, cabaret organizations and members of the cabaret press, asking them to help us promote MARCH IS CABARET MONTH around the world - making folks aware of this unique and wonderful live entertainment medium. If you would like to volunteer to help us get the word out (all over the world, wherever March happens), please send me a note - same address: stuhamstra@svhamstra.com !

This week we also reactivated our MARCH IS CABARET MONTH website -http://www.marchiscabaret.com/ . If you have an event during the month of March, and you designate in your press releases and on your promotional material that the show is a MARCH IS CABARET MONTH event, we'll include it in the proper geographical page on this special website, in addition to our regular listings pages on our CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website. Double the publicity and another place for Google and other search engines to find out about your show! And all banners and side-bar ads running on our CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website will also run on this extra website. With entertainment venues still cutting back on live music, and so many national and local publications cutting back on their coverage of cabaret events, we need to promote this art form we all love and cherish. Now more than ever, cabaret needs your support!

If you wish to be a sponsor of our MARCH IS CABARET MONTH PROMOTION, you can actually purchase a ticket for the GALA today! We need some "seed money" to get the promotion started - we need to order fliers and posters, and cover the cost of snail-mail and e-mail press releases. Sponsorship ($100 per unit) will get you one free $25 ticket (premium seating) to the event per unit, and your name and website (if applicable) will be so noted in all promotional materials and newsletter items about the event. (We won't be able to include your name on the post cards, fliers and posters, since these items will probably be printed in the next two weeks or so). You can remain anonymous if you wish. Sponsors also get a free 1/4 page ad in the program booklet for the gala - worth $25. So your "net cost" for sponsorship is actually $50!

BUTTERFLY CLUB RE-OPENS TONIGHT - COME MEET THE NEW OWNER

This email will not display properly in Microsoft Outlook... please view it in your browser.

The Butterfly Club
We’re re-opening tonight

After a small break we re-open 5pm tonight, with a chocka schedule of shows on sale on our website stretching from Midsumma right through to the Comedy Festival.

Safe pair of hands

Those who are fans of our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter (and if you don’t, why not?) will know that we have announced the sale of The Butterfly Club into a safe pair of hands. There's a full statement and video of the announcement on our website

Don’t worry, the new owner, Mr Simone Pulga, has announced that he plans no changes to your favourite little kitsch hide-away. You’ll still see the same team behind the bar – in fact, our longstanding Venue Manager, Alexander (you might know him as 'Xander') gets a promotion and full-time job out of the deal.

It is also very important to us and to Simone that existing function and show bookings are all honoured and valued.

And the dusting regime shall continue unabated ;)

Simone says: “Having been involved in the arts and entertainment industry since the age of 10, I immediately recognised the important position The Butterfly Club holds in the industry, but also how much it is loved by audiences and performers."

"The arts is my life, the life of my friends, and my passion is to provide audiences with great shows, and offer performers an accessible outlet for their talent. Therefore I plan no changes, except to build on the excellent work and reputation of the venue.”

Why have we sold? The sale gives us the time, energy and financial resources to enable us to focus on the Melbourne Cabaret Festival. Click here to follow our exploits on that front, and of course we’d love to see you there each year in July as it grows to become an annual hallmark of Melbourne’s festival calendar.

Farewell drinks / meet Simone

If you wish to meet Simone, say hi to Alexander, and say farewell to us, the four of us will be in the venue from 7pm-10pm from Tuesday 18 to Sunday 23 January for that very purpose. Do pop in! Oh, and we should stress that we’ll still be around, we're simply changing from ‘owners’ to ‘regulars’, as we know there’s no better venue to see the next hot act to book for the Festival.

We feel incredibly privileged to have been custodians of The Butterfly Club over the past 8 years. A heartfelt thanks for your support. Please continue to support Simone, Alexander and The Butterfly Club team as you have us, so that this special little escape from the world continues to thrive.

David Read / Neville Sice
Former owners, The Butterfly Club
