Southport Records and Lampkin Music Group Presents the first of a 3-part Summer Series: "The Art of the Song" on Saturday, June 2nd at 6:30 pm atKATERINA'S CLUB (1920 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL - 773-348-7592). The show features April Aloisio & Joanie Pallatto - vocals, with Carlo Chapelle - voice, David Onderdonk - guitar and Bradley Parker-Sparrow - piano. Mixing the music of Brazil and American jazz, April Aloisio has performed and recorded with an array of the finest world class musicians, including Von Freeman, Howard Levy, Fareed Haque, Dave Onderdonk, Johnny Frigo, Eldee Young, Kenny Poole, Patrick Kelly and more. Joanie Pallatto is a graduate of The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Pallatto toured with The Glenn Miller Orchestra as a featured vocalist; is now co-owner and partner with pianist/composer and husband, Bradley Parker-Sparrow at Sparrow Sound Design Recording Studio and SOUTHPORT Records. There is a $5 cover.

Concerts for City Greens, the free outdoor concert series that brings the sounds of music to the heart of Midtown, kicks off its fifth season on Wednesday May 30th at 6:30 pm at Tudor City Greens. (Rain date: Thursday May 31 at 6:30 pm) " ... in the spring, becomes The Rose," a salute to Golden Globe winner Amanda McBroom, features these special guests -- the seven-time MAC-winning singer Natalie Douglas; the MAC and Bistro Award winning singer Kevin Dozier, and the singer/songwriter and Broadway music director John DiPinto. The Windham Hill recording artist, Sean Harkness (2012 MAC Recording of the Year), and the 4-time MAC & 2-time Bistro Award-winning big band innovator Terese Genecco return as series regulars. The concert's featured instrumentalists are the music directors Bill Zeffiro, David Caldwell and Jeff Cubeta on piano, and Tom Hubbard on bass. All are series regulars. The Broadway and cabaret veteran Raissa Katona Bennett is the evening's host and producer.
