The San Francisco SOMETHING C.O.O.L. - THE SUMMER CABARET FESTIVAL, will run from Thursday, May 27th through Sunday, June 27th at THE EUREKA THEATER (215 Jackson Street, San Francisco, CA - TKKTS: 415-674-3863 -http://www.brownpapertickets.com/ ). Centerpiece of the celebration will be singer and recording artist Russ Lorenson, who will bring his award winning "Benedetto/Blessed: A Tribute to the Life and Music of Tony Bennett" to THE EUREKA on Thursdays through Sundays all five weeks of the festival. Performances are Thursdays & Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 6:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. The show had its opening at the Austin Cabaret Theater followed by sold-out runs at SF's Empire Plush Room, LA's Sterling's Upstairs, Milwaukee's Wilson Center for the Arts, and New York's famed Iridium Jazz Club. Tickets are $25 advance - $30 at the door. $10 cost for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.
Daryl Sherman and Ronny Whyte will perform as part of the annual Cole Porter Festival in Peru, Indiana on Saturday, June 12th at 7:30 pm at PERU HIGH SCHOOL (401 North Broadway, Peru, IN - TKTS: 765-473-9183 -http://www.coleporterfestival.org/ ), presented by Miami County Historical Society. Both long time New York favorites, Daryl Sherman and Ronny Whyte are reknowned singer/pianists with charm, wit, sophistication and a voluminous treasure chest of songs. With a delightful, delicious de-lovely potpourri of Cole Porter classics and rarities, they have a "musical chairs" approach to vocal duets and solo features, combined with the brilliance of Mr. Porter's meoldies and lyrics. For 14 years Ms. Sherman played and sang for savvy New Yorkers and international visitors at the Waldorf =Astoria's famed Cole Porter Steinway. MAC and Bistro Award-winner Karen Oberlin returns to the legendary THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-419-9331) for her first extended run Tuesdays through Saturdays, June 1st through 19th at 8:30 pm, with late shows on Fridays & Saturdays at 11:00 pm. Her show will celebrate the centenary of Frank Loesser, one of the greatest American songwriters, responsible for the Academy Award-winning "Baby, It's Cold Outside," "Heart and Soul" and "Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year," not to mention the masterpieces Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella and the Pulitzer Prize-winning How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Oberlin will delve into the life and music of this fascinating composer and lyricist, as she performs many of his classics and exquisite rare finds. Oberlin plans to explore the endlessly delicious wit, beauty and depth of Loesser's film and Broadway songs. A decade of cabaret and there's more to come as the Adelaide Festival Centre and Artistic Director for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, David Campbell, announce the 2010 Adelaide Cabaret Festival program, June 11th through 26th. Once again the Adelaide Festival Centre will be transformed into Cabaret mode and experience some of the best Cabaret at one of the world's most unique festival's for the genre. At THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATER (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Fridays at 10:30 pm, 2010 MAC AWARD NOMINEE Brandon Cutrell hosts AFTER PARTY, a free-wheeling open-mic with guest stars from Broadway and Cabaret, Ray Fellman at the piano and Becca Johnson -Southworth and serving up drinks and taking turns at the mic. Guest performers from Broadway, off-Broadway and cabaret drop by each week to sing, chat and join in the fun. Jazz vocalist Janet Planet will present her show "Like a Complete Unknown" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) for one night only, on Friday, June 11th at 9:45 pm. Janet will sing from her repertoire of 20th century lyricists. Dylan to Dearie - Porter to Jobim as well as will perform songs from her recent project, "Of Thee I Sing," and previews coming attractions, her "Dylan Songbook" album, with a focus on Dylan's early compositions, due to be released this summer.
