In her third engagement atFEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel(540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095), MAC & Bistro Award winner and Broadway's Raissa Katona Bennett (Christine in "Phantom of the Opera") celebrates the release of her latest CD, Another Kind of Light on Tuesday through Saturday, August 21st through 25th at 8:00 pm. Produced by the award-winning Ron Abel, with music direction by David Caldwell, the CD releases courtesy of LML Music on August 14th. Another Kind of Light, includes never-before-recorded songs by prominent songwriters, including two songs written for her by Michael John LaChiusa. Bennett performs a mix of jazz, pop and theatre songs, and puts a contemporary spin on well-known standards - songs that intelligently explore the human condition. The evening is directed by Eric Michael Gillett, with Sean Harkness on guitar; Ray Marchica on drums; Ritt Henn on bass; and music director David Caldwell on piano. Other song debuts were contributed by Ron Abel & Chuck Steffan, and David Caldwell. Also represented are Christine Lavin; Alan Menken & David Spencer; Alan & Marilyn Bergman; Stephen Flaherty & Lynn Ahrens; Michael Mooney & Stephen Hoffman; Scott Frankel & Michael Korie, and Amanda McBroom & Michele Brourman. There is a $30-$50 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.


Brazilian vocalist Vanessa Falabella and 2011 MAC Nominee (Best Male Debut) Cornelius Bates will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, August 23th at 9:30 pm. Vanessa Falabella has a repertoire as great as her charm and charisma, singing everything from traditional samba and bossa nova, to jazz, MPB (Brazilian popular music), soul, and R&B. She has performed at New York's top venues. She has performed and recorded with Marcus Viana, Cyro Baptista, The Rain Forest Band, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Sadao Watanabe, Gato Barbieri, Hiram Bullock, among others. She opened for Bob Dylan's Brazilian Tour, performed at the Taste of Jazz Festival in Miami, and has traveled the world as a featured performer. In Brazil, she has recorded soundtracks for some of the famous Brazilian television "novelas" as well as commercials including a Brazilian presidential campaign.









"Time After Time: The Very Best Of The 80s" will be presented at THE WILMETTE THEATRE (1122 Central Avenue, Wilmette, IL - 847-251-7424 - ) on Monday, August 20th at 7:30 pm. Scheduled to perform: Bethany Thomas, Mike Arthur, Mekole Wells, Michael Richardson, Julia Merchant & Meredith Freyre. The show is directed by Emmy winner Scott Gryder. Musical director is Jeffrey Roscoe with Michael B. Favreau on woodwinds, Nathan Kawaller on bass, and percussionist Vance Okraszewski. Call for cover/minimum information.
