OVER 65? I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU

Over 65? I am looking for some kind of count to see how many "seniors" are readers/members. No need to tell me your exact age - just send me an e-mail at stuhamstra@svhamstra.com with the subject line SENIOR 65+. If we get enough responses we might just set up a special cabaret program with special offers just for seniors.

Wenhelm Productions' American Composer Series will celebrate the music of three great African-American composers of a bygone era in the new musical revue THE DARK TOWN STRUTTERS' BALL: The Music Of Shelton Brooks, Maceo Pinkard, And Spencer Williams at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Friday, July 24th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, July 25th, at 8:30 pm. Musical director Earl Wentz, crafted this fast-paced, funny, and sentimental hour-long revue of music by these composers, who, despite their contributions of dozens of popular and jazz standards, have been too-often overlooked in the Great American Songbook. The show's title is taken from Shelton Brooks's 1917 hit that begins with the famous lyric, "I'll be down to get you in a taxi, honey," and that has been recorded by artists as diverse as Alberta Hunter, Fats Domino, Pete Fountain, Chet Atkins, and The Beach Boys. Over 25 songs, including classics "Sweet Georgia Brown," "Them There Eyes," "Basin Street Blues," and "Some of These Days" will be performed by Sheryl Fields, Nicole Pacent, Ravin Patterson, and William Watkins. Both Pacent and Patterson make their cabaret debuts with this production, while Fields and Watkins are cabaret- and American Composer Series- veterans.
