Elaine St. George returns for one more performances of her show "InspiRAYtion: The musical legacy of Ray Charles" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 ) on Wednesday, April 27th and Tuesday, May 3rd; Wednesday May 4th; & Monday, May 9th all shows at 7:00 pm. Ray Charles sang just about every kind of music there is, from rock & roll to Broadway, blues, country, and jazz. This show touches on all of those genres with songs by Lennon & McCartney, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Ashford & Simpson, and Buck Owens - as well as Ray Charles himself. Nancy Stearns will be returning to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, April 28th and Sunday, May 1st with her new show, "Weather or Not," sharing songs of the weather, seasons, and all the moods and colors that come with their changes. Music Director is Gregory Toroian and Helen Baldassare directs. Nancy has been performing annually in New York City cabaret rooms with her music director, Gregory Toroian, since 2001. A lawyer by day, Nancy first "found" cabaret as a student at Helen Baldassare's Cabaret Performance Workshop, for which Nancy now serves as Administrator. Nancy has recorded five of her shows with Gregory Toroian, on piano and David Finck, on bass: The Words of Women (2006), Sing Me A Song With Social Significance - Or Not (2006), With Rhyme, But For No Particular Reason (2007),This Moment (2008), and Yip Harburg: With Humor and Hope (2009). Songwriters' Roundtable, an all-new songwriter event featuring original songs by some of cabaret's most beloved songwriters, interspersed with Charlie Rose-style interviews, debuts atDON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Friday, April 22nd at 7:30 pm. The brainchild of singer/songwriter Meg Flather and cabaret singer/lyricist Jennie Litt, Songwriters' Roundtable is a unique concept in live entertainment: a cabaret show with an informal coffeehouse vibe, interspersed with conversations exploring the craft, inspiration, and art of songwriting. A round robin of original songs and intimate conversation with four songwriting women of cabaret. Rounding out the show are Rosemary Loar and Sue Matsuki. In addition to being songwriters, the four participants in Songwriters' Roundtable are also highly-regarded cabaret performers. "Broadway Sessions" is an evening of musical performances, games, comedy and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show takes place every Thursday evening at 11:00 pm at THE MIDTOWN THEATER AT HA! COMEDY CLUB (163 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-977-3884). It is hosted by Ben Cameron (Wicked, Aida, Footloose) and features composer/musical director Will Van Dyke on piano. This week, April 21st, the show is thrilled to welcome Carly Jibson, the cast of The Gay Bride of Frankenstein, F. Michael Haynie and Bertha Mason. Carly Jibson has starred on Broadway in Hairspray (Tracy Turnblad) and Cry Baby (Pepper). Billy Butler and his band the Monster Makers' pop/rock musical hit GayBride of Frankenstein will be performed in concert Sunday April 24th at Joe's Pub at 7:30 pm. Actor/Singer F. Michael Haynie has appeared Off-Broadway in We the People:America Rocks. Bertha Mason, the pie baking, musical theater loving, midwestern drag star, will be on hand to pass out homemade treats and test your musical savvy. The performances are followed by open mic that goes until 2:00 am. There is no cover charge for this event. Donations will be collected for BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS.
International cabaret and concert performer, Steve Ross brings his sophisticated touch, delicious sense of humor to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 ) on Wednesday & Thursday, April 20th & 21st at 7:00 pm. He is joined by Baroque diva Ann Monoyios and the Four Nations Ensemble for an hour long dialogue of love and obsession from the 17th through the 21st century. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
Jim Caruso's CAST PARTY, with Billy Stritch at the piano, goes on the road again on Wednesday, April 20th at 7:00 pm for a special show at the GREGG THEATER AT SEWICKLEY ACADEMY (315 Academy Avenue, Sewickley, PA - 412-741-2230 ext. 3046). For the past eight years, Jim Caruso has been hosting Cast Party, a wildly popular weekly open mic night that brings both showbiz superstars and up-and-comers to the legendary Birdland in New York City. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. This past year, Caruso and Stritch have taken the Party to Austin and Provincetown, as well as their bi-monthly residence at The Magic Castle in Hollywood. Refreshments will be served after the performance. This event is free and open to the public.



FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) presents the debut engagement of acclaimed entertainer Clint Holms, Tuesday through Saturday, April 19th through 23rd with performances Tuesday through Thursday at 8:30 pm; and Friday and Saturday at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. His new show will include songs from a wide range of influences, from classic American standards made famous by Frank Sinatra and Nat "King" Cole Jr. as well as numbers from the songbooks of Harry Belafonte and Leonard Cohen. Holmes is an acclaimed singer, dancer and comedian best known for his chart-topping hits like "Playground In My Mind," his TV shows like "New York at Night" and his long-running Las Vegas stage show. All shows have a $40-$60 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) will present a special one-night only event, hosted by Sidney Myer, on Tuesday, April 19th at 7:00 pm featuring performances from the three shows nominated for Special Production in the 2011 MAC Awards. The three shows nominated for this year's MAC (Manhattan Association of Clubs & Cabarets) award are: Phil Geoffrey Bond's My Queer Youth, which concerns growing up queer amongst the cornfields of southern Indiana, Directed by Michele Pawk; Mary Dimino's Scared Skinny, a one (hundred pounds lighter) woman show about growing up fat, funny and afraid in an Italian Family in Queens, directed by Christine Renee Miller; Faye Lane's Beauty Shop Stories, which recalls the glittered-up memories of a Texas Green Bean Queen, in bedazzling story and song, directed by Jay Rogers. There is a $10 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum. ($5 cover for MAC).


Jim Van Slyke returns toFEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) in grand style with his critically-acclaimed show, "The Sedaka Show," celebrating the music of pop icon Neil Sedaka. Jim lights up the stage with this tribute to pop music legend Neil Sedaka and five decades of top 40 hits every Monday in April, the 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th, all shows at 8:30 pm. Conceived and directed by Tony-nominated singer/actor Brian Lane Green, "The Sedaka Show" features Jim's beautiful voice and charm with the intimate melodies of Neil Sedaka, including "Laughter in the Rain," "Hungry Years," "Solitaire," and classic Sedaka hits like "Oh Carol," "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," "Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen," "Where the Boys Are," and the blockbuster hit, "Love Will Keep Us Together." With musical arrangements by award-winning musical director Tim DiPasqua, this tour de force trio have created a magnificent evening of Neil Sedaka favorites, lost gems, and a few surprises! One surprise: Terese Genecco joins Jim on April 25th. Jim will also celebrate the forthcoming release of his brand new CD, The Sedaka Sessions, featuring two duets with Neil Sedaka.
