NYC: PRE-BROADWAY CONCERT OF "A CRUISE LINE" AT DON'T TELL MAMA

NYC: PRE-BROADWAY CONCERT OF "A CRUISE LINE" AT DON'T TELL MAMA

A concert of new songs from the upcoming musical, A Cruise Line, composed by Rick Knight and directed by Spider Duncan Christopher, will be performed at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 ) in September. There are nine performances: Thursday & Friday, September 1st & 2nd; Tuesday, September 6th; Friday, September 9th; and Wednesday through Friday, September 9th through 15th. All shows are at 9:15 pm plus two special memorial shows will be presented on Sunday, September 11th and Monday, September 12th, both at 7:00 pm. A CRUISE LINE's concert will include 16 songs performed by an ethnically and culturally diverse ensemble cast of 11 which represents the diversity of the characters of the show and which includes Andi Bohs, Joe Dawson, Lisa Deane, Ken Gartman, Drew Hale, Ryan Hartman, Howah Hung, Dana Hunter, Michael Kours, Liz McKendry, Jody Mullen, Zal Owen, Andrew Pacho, Ross Pivec, Yolanda Robinson, Marshall Simon, and Cedric Yau. All of the stories swirl around each other as the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaches. It's a dramatic comedy that presents a message described as every bit as paradigm shifting as Hair and Rent. The show's tag line is "Once you connect the dots, you can color outside the lines." Knight and Christopher regard it as further Aquarian Age study of how humanity is evolving. Proceeds from the September 11th and 12th shows will go to selected foundations helping the victims and families of 9/11 First Responders. After the cabaret concert finishes with its final performance on Friday, September 16, Knight and Christopher will be working on a full production of the show in 2012. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: JENNA ESPOSITO IN HER NEW SHOW "ITALIAN UNDERCOVER!" TONIGHT!

NYC: JENNA ESPOSITO IN HER NEW SHOW "ITALIAN UNDERCOVER!" TONIGHT!

FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) presents the return of three-time MAC Award nominee Jenna Esposito in her new show "Italian Undercover!" on Tuesday, August 30th at 8:30 pm. In the show, Jenna revisits the music of some of the most popular and influential Italian-American pop singers of the 20th century who changed their names and performed undercover. While the names Francesco Paulo LoVecchio, Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco and Concetta Franconero might mean nothing to you, perhaps you would recognize them by their "undercover aliases" - Frankie Laine, Lou Christie and Connie Francis! Here's the scoop: Most people are aware that Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and yes, Connie Francis are Italian. And most people are also aware that their given names have been changed considerably. But not everyone knows that the same can be said for countless others including Frankie Laine, Lou Christie, Bobby Rydell, and more ... until now. This program is inspired by Mark Rotella's book Amore - The Story of Italian American Song; Rotella himself will be on hand to introduce the show. The performance features Jenna's five-piece band: musical director Fortune Esposito on guitar, David Crone on piano, Rob Broelmann on bass, Bobby Sher on drums, Brian Broelmann on tenor sax, and Kelly Esposito-Broelmann and Rob Langeder on backup vocals. There is a $25-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
