JEUDI - WINTER WAS WARM A NEW CD FROM JEUDI BREALEY - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

JEUDI - WINTER WAS WARM FROM JEUDI BREALEY

'Jeudi - Winter Was Warm' is a new vintage holiday soundtrack of rare, swingin' & sentimental American gems from the 30's 40's & 50's, sung in sweet nostalgic tones reminiscent of the great chanteuses of the past. The songs evoke the many moods of winter from merriment to melancholy. As a vintage-loving chanteuse with a penchant for research, Jeudi delights in mining the forgotten musical gems. Most of these tunes are lost treasures from the 1930's to the 1950's. While half are Christmas songs, they're all about winter. This time of year, while openly expressing joys and good wishes, we may also privately reflect on disappointments and regrets. The greatest songwriters capture the range of human emotions and present them to us in a gorgeous melody, or a tender lyric. These songs match the moods of the season, from merriment to melancholy. Jeudi is pleased to share these masterfully written, musical jewels with you, which have been dressed in beautiful new arrangements, embracing a modern retro vibe. they should bring a fresh touch, warm your heart and maybe even put a little spring in your step, this winter season. Available now at CD Baby

- AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

Al Tulane presents "Act of a Lifetime – Cheaper Than Therapy" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sunday, December 27th at 5:30 pm. By day, he's known as Mr. Tulin in the hallowed halls of the renowned Trinity School on the Upper West Side, where he teaches performing arts and directs musicals. But by night, he's Al Tulane, "The Man of a Million Names," who wows audiences with his performances in places such as Manhattan's Le Cirque, Daniel and The Four Seasons, as well as Palm Beach and Bel-Air all the way to Athens and Cap d'Antibes. Both sides of this versatile performer can be seen onstage in his upcoming 'Act of a Lifetime – Cheaper Than Therapy' at Manhattan's premier cabaret club. Accompanied by music director Christopher Howatt, Al will regale audiences with stories and anecdotes from his career as an actor and performer, drawing on standards from the stage and screen to tell his story. Alan Tulin and his alter ego Al Tulane: The Man of a Million Names were bitten by the Broadway Bug in the early 60s and have been bugging Broadway ever since! Fueled by a desire to perform, Al sang and danced his way through Emerson College, Summer Stock, Regional Theatre and Atlantic City until he landed in the window of the Landmark stationary store on the corner of 44th and Madison as emcee host of a mid-day variety show! In 1980 Al took a detour to Cairo where he headlined for six months at the Holiday Inn Pyramids Hotel in Giza while perfecting his camel riding skills. He currently serves as chorister at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Manhattan; previous positions included the historic Trinity Church Wall Street and the famed Riverside Church. He was music director and performer with the vocal trio Boulevard East, with whom he has appeared in public and private events throughout the Eastern seaboard. In addition, his voice can be heard on recordings as diverse as Boulevard East's release Timeless, Jessye Norman's Christmas CD In the Spirit, to singing backup for The Pet Shop Boys on their cover of the Village People song, "Go West." He has served as coach and accompanist for such talents as David Hyde Pierce, Howard McGillin, Tyne Daly, Rita Moreno, Brad Oscar and Cady Huffman (from The Producers) and others for George Street Playhouse, as well as serving as musical supervisor for their productions of Sylvia, Lend Me a Tenor and Inspecting Carol and musical director for the world premiere production of Come Back, Come Back, Wherever You Are, written and directed by the late theatrical legend Arthur Laurents. He is putting the finishing touches on his first solo recorded effort, Songs My Mother Taught Me. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. $5 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

On this CD, three songs were written expressly for Raissa - 2 by Michael John LaChiusa: "Torch Song for Raissa" and "Bye, Bye, Ingenue", and 1 by David Caldwell: "i carry your heart". Two other songs received their first commercial recording here: Ron Abel and Chuck Steffan's "Waiting for a Westbound Train," and "How Could I Not?" is from the David Spencer/Alan Menken musical, THE APPRENTICESHIP OF DUDDY KRAVITZ.

NYC: AL TULANE - "THE MAN OF A MILLION NAMES" AT MAMA'S

Al Tulane presents "Act of a Lifetime – Cheaper Than Therapy" at DON'T TELL MAMA(343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sunday, December 27th at 5:30 pm. Numerous television appearances on the PBS series "In the Life" and off Broadway runs in the Drama Desk Award-winning musical Howard Crabtree's Whoop-Dee-Doo and Tony 'n Tina's Wedding followed. For more than twenty years Al has also been directing musicals as a member of the Performing Arts Department at Manhattan's Trinity School. Christopher Howatt is known both as a musical director and vocalist; for two seasons, he was a member of the Associate Chorus of the Metropolitan Opera.

HOTLINE MEMBER CABARET EVENT TONIGHT IN SAN ANTONIO, TX: KEN SLAVIN: THE SILVER ANNIVERSARY CONCERT!

HOTLINE MEMBER CABARET EVENT TONIGHT IN SAN ANTONIO, TX: KEN SLAVIN: THE SILVER ANNIVERSARY CONCERT!

Ken Slavin as celebrates his 25th anniversary in the music business with an informal concert on Wednesday, December 23rd at 8:00 pm, at SAM'S BURGER JOINT MUSIC HALL(330 East Grayson Street, San Antonio, TX). Ken will be accompanied by a swingin' jazz trio of Barry Brake on keyboard, Chuck Moses on bass and Darren Kuper on drums. Pre-concert entertainment will be provided by DJ HANS 242, who will spin classic tunes by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and others. Ken made his professional debut with George Prado's Regency Jazz Band on the San Antonio River Walk in 1990 and since those early days, he has become one of the city's most popular classic jazz singers and has developed a fan base around the world. Although his smooth and intimate vocal style is often favorably compared to noted jazz vocalist Johnny Hartman or such legendary pop singers as Frank Sinatra, Matt Monro and Tony Bennett, he has steadfastly followed his own musical path, successfully finding a unique voice in a highly competitive industry. Over the past quarter century, Ken's dedication to singing has paid off in many exciting ways. Last year he became a voting member of The Recording Academy, which produces the GRAMMY Awards. He has produced five CDs, all of which are included on jazz radio playlists around the world and on cable TV's Music Choice service on the "Singers and Swing" channel. He has opened for such jazz stars as The Four Freshmen, Eddie Palmieri, David Sanborn and Chico Hamilton and performed in concert with the internationally acclaimed Jim Cullum Jazz Band and five-time Grammy Award winners Little Joe y La Familia. And he recently sang with the San Antonio Symphony at the Majestic Theatre during one of Fiesta's biggest and oldest events: the Coronation of the Queen of the Order of the Alamo. ••In 2013 he made his New York City debut at the world-famous Metropolitan Room and released a live CD to commemorate the occasion. He has returned two more times to excellent reviews and will perform there again in 2016 on January 7th, with a new show, "Cocktails with Ken: A Saloon Jazz Mixology." Reservations at http://samsburgerjoint.com/ken-slavin-the-silver-anniversary-concert - there is a $10-$30 cover.
