SWEET LIFE - A NEW CD BY JIM SPEAKE

This recording had a long gestation, starting when Jim was born in Florence Alabama in1945. This was very close to the place where musical magic was to be made, the famous recording studios in Muscle Shoals. By coincidence, Percy Sledge was born in the same little town where his family and Jim lived, Leighton, Alabama. He had a major hit with his first recording in 1966, and the "Muscle Shoals Sound" was firmly established. Jim Speake had music in his life from an early age, because he sang along with his mother when she played the piano and sang. A track of his first recording session at four, can be found on Jim's first CD, "Jim Speake Sings My Generation." It was expected that he would go into the family business of farming. Instead, when Speake went to college, he earned degrees in Business Administration, University of Alabama and ultimately Landscape Architecture, University of Georgia. If he had followed my heart, he would have studied music. That was a road Jim did not take seriously until he moved to New York City in 2000. There, while studying acting and voice, Jim was lucky enough to meet some key people who have been vital to his development as a singer. At H.B. Studio, he met KT Sullivan. KT introduced Jim to Eric Michael Gillett. Eric Michael introduced him to Patrick DeGennaro. Patrick introduced him to Lennie Watts and Steven Ray Watkins. 2015 marked the tenth anniversary of his collaboration with these two talented men. Most of the arrangements on this recording were developed working with this same team. It is not a stretch to say thatSpeake would not have made this recording had he not met Lennie and Steven. He especially appreciates Lennie's support through this journey and also introducing him to Paul Rolnick.

NYC: JEFF MACAULEY MWAH! THE DINAH SHORE SHOW - ONE MWAH! TIME

Cabaret Life Productions presents cabaret veteran Jeff MacAuley at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday, March 1st at 7:00 pm. MacAuley, who over the past few years has scored with two highly praised shows paying tribute to songwriter Norman Gimbel and composer Henry Mancini, is bringing back his 1998 Backstage Bistro Award Winner for "Outstanding Theme Show" - MWAH! THE DINAH SHORE SHOW - during the month of the legendary singer and TV show host's 100th birthday. Daryl Kojak will be on piano. Macauley's Dinah Shore tribute debuted in 1997 at EightyEights in New York's Greenwich Village and had a long run before moving to Los Angeles' Cinegrill at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. "MWAH!" is an affectionate and humorous look at the life and career of Dinah Shore as seen through the eyes of one of her most ardent fans, someone who sat transfixed in front of his TV during the 1970s watching the "Dinah!" show almost daily. Macauley presents many of Dinah's 92 pop chart hits, ranging from million selling songs to lesser-known standards. One of cabaret's best raconteurs, Macauley offers entertaining and informative tidbits about Dinah's professional and personal life in this fun, slightly skewed, but always warm look at the life and career of one of this country's less examined pop icons. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

DUNELLEN, NJ: PEACHES AND CRIME BRING THEATRE AND MUSIC BACK TO RADIO THEATER
You Choose The Action Murder Mystery Before Live Audience

For years, the all-original Vaudeville variety musical act Peaches and Crime has been bringing a revival of a vibrant, varied, and unpredictable stage art for to stages across New York and beyond. But on Saturday, April 23rd at 9:00 pm, Peaches and Crime will bring their special brand of macabre music and wit to ROXY & DUKEIS ROADHOUSE (745 Bound Brook Road, Dunellen, NJ - 732-529-4464) reviving yet another neglected American art form - a live radio play, fresh from its premier at Manhattan's exclusive FEINSTEINS/54 BELOW cabaret. For decades, live radio drama and comedy broadcasts were the American public's principle and most easily-available form of home entertainment. Before television became practical but after the movies drove many Vaudevillians away from successful touring stage careers, radio brought the country's greatest performers into the homes of the public while leaving space for the listener's visual imagination to work. The comedies were invariably performed before a live audience, with the actors holding scripts and wearing street clothes, but nonetheless bringing their characters to life with the energy of live theatre. Aware that in Dunellen their primary listenership will be sitting in front of them rather than listening at home, Peaches and Crime have added an audience participation element to the proceedings, pausing the play at several key points to allow the audience to decide which choices characters will make and what course the action will take. There is a $12 cover in advance ($20 cash cover at door) - available at https://www.showclix.com/event/peaches-and-crime

Phillips was an exciting introduction to the Crazy Coqs line-up in 2015 and is now a regular performer at their late night jazz nights. Emerging as one of the UK's leading jazz singer pianists, Robin Phillips' passionate performances are as informative as they are engaging and entertaining. With Jay Darwish on upright bass and Alex Best on drums, this young and energetic trio definitely hark back to a golden age of jazz, but their arrangements have a distinctly modern edge. Inspired by singer / instrumentalists such as Harry Connick Jr and Chet Baker, but also jazz vocalists such as Mark Murphy, Mel Torme and Jon Hendricks, Robin's current passion is unearthing the lost introductions ('verses') to many of the classic jazz standards. At Crazy Coqs, the trio will be performing a collection of classic and not-so-well-known jazz standards, many re-arranged with a modern feel, including material from Robin's two previous albums and his upcoming recording project.' Call for reservations and cover/minimum information.

This summer, July 15th - July 22nd, 2016, The Tuscany Project 'Gospel Workshop- Blend Your Voice With Others' will take a vacation from the beloved Locanda and spend some time by the sea! This new adventure will take place on the Greek island of Kefalonia. Attendees will stay in a Greek pension with a beautiful space for movement, singing, comfortable accommodations nestled in an olive grove and just 300 meters away from the beach. Typical Greek dishes will be served in the Taverna of the house, freshly made with their own olive oil and organic vegetables from the garden.

Phillip Woods, a dear friend and most wonderful Gospel teacher and choir leader will be with you all once again to lead in soulful singing. Always and striving for musical excellence, his approach to the music is with care and humor in a non-judgmental way where everybody is included, regardless of their level of singing.

Days will start by waking up body and voice with Anja's one-of-a-kind movement class. We will spend the rest of the morning singing Gospel with Phillip and have afternoons free for swimming, relaxing or exploring the island. And at the end of the week, the group will present Gospel songs to a local audience.

2017 will mark the return to beloved Locanda del Gallo in Italy to celebrate the 25th Tuscany Project anniversary!

BREAKING NEWS IN NYC: NEW CD RELEASED BY SCOTT EVAN DAVIS - LISTENING PARTY PLANNED FOR FEBRUARY 28th (no cover)

BREAKING NEWS IN NYC: NEW CD RELEASED BY SCOTT EVAN DAVIS - LISTENING PARTY PLANNED FOR FEBRUARY 28th (no cover)

New York based composer/ lyricist, Scott Evan Davis, has announced the release date of his second recording, NEXT, on Sonic Landscapes Music (BMI). Co-produced with his arranger and conductor, David Snyder, NEXT was recorded with a 12 piece orchestra and features guest singers, including Robert Cuccioli, Karen Mason (for whom he wrote the song "Save Me The Rose"), Lisa Howard, Derek Klena and more, on each track. Davis, whose writing is rooted in the musical theater, uses his title to tell part of the story of this recording: all of the songs are sung by characters who are beginning the "next" phase of their lives, in one way or another. NEXT will be available as a digital download on iTunes on February 29th, and on Amazon and CD Baby, as well as other online retailers the first week of March. A listening party is planned on February 28th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438). Call for reservations and cover/minimum information. Reservations are essential.

Davis released his debut album, "CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC," in 2012, with featured performances by Faith Prince, Liz Callaway, Jason Graae, Lisa Howard, Nikki Renee Daniels and other prominent theater and cabaret names. Since then, he has presented concerts of his work widely across the USA, and in London, Dublin and Australia, and his songs, "I Am" and "Ready to Fly," are being sold globally as show choir pieces. Davis is a Broadway World Award winner for his original song, "If We Say Goodbye." In addition he has received three MAC Award nominations for his revue, PICTURE PERECT, and his songs "Save Me The Rose" and "Just a Word." PICTURE PERECT made its London and Australian debut after sold out runs in New York and LA. Davis has performed and presented his music at a variety of NYC venues, including 54 Below.

A vocal coach and musical director for the past 13 years, Davis has been a resident composer/ musical director at Brooklyn Children's Theatre since 2011. His work with autistic children is featured in the 2014 documentary, "Spectrum of Hope" the story of 10 musical theater students, their families, and their teachers as they travel from their special needs school in New York City's Lower East Side to compete in the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, Georgia.

Scott is currently working on his newest musical, INDIGO, as well as developing another show with producer/writer Phil Geoffrey Bond. In June 2016, his song "If the World Only Knew" based on the stories and journaling of the autistic students of P94 Spectrum School in NYC, will be performed at the Gershwin Theatre by a huge crowd of Broadway stars as the finale for the benefit BELIEVE NYC, which raises money and awareness for autism. APRIL 23 IN DUNELLEN, NJ: PEACHES AND CRIME BRING THEATRE AND MUSIC BACK TO RADIO THEATER - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

APRIL 23 IN DUNELLEN, NJ: PEACHES AND CRIME BRING THEATRE AND MUSIC BACK TO RADIO THEATER - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

APRIL 12th & 16th in NYC: CD RELEASE EVENT FOR 'SWEET LIFE' - A NEW CD BY JIM SPEAKE - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

APRIL 12th & 16th in NYC: CD RELEASE EVENT FOR 'SWEET LIFE' - A NEW CD BY JIM SPEAKE - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

Jim Speake will celebrate the release of his latest CD - "SWEET LIFE" at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Tuesday, April 12th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, April 16th at 4:00 pm. The show is Directed by Lennie Watts with Musical Direction by Steven Ray Watkins and the SRW Band. Jim will be performing all of the songs from the new recording. There is a $15 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

TUESDAY - MARCH 1st in NYC: JEFF MACAULEY MWAH! THE DINAH SHORE SHOW - ONE MWAH! TIME - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE
