S.F.: THE RETURN OF R&B AND SOUL LEGEND MARLENA SHAW

S.F.: THE RETURN OF R&B AND SOUL LEGEND MARLENA SHAW

RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189 - ) presents the return engagement of acclaimed jazz and pop vocalist, Marlena Shaw on Thursday through Sunday, November 29th through December 2nd (showtimes vary - see website). Whether she's singing jazz, R&B, pop, rock, soul, blues or gospel, Shaw's originality makes such distinctions irrelevant, and each song becomes intimate and new. For her new show at The RRazz Room Shaw gives a vocal master-class performing classic jazz and R&B standards leaving no room for question why critics call her a soul legend. Her big hits include "California Soul," "Wade In The Water" and the classic Disco remake of "Touch Me In The Morning." Marlena Shaw is the ultimate song stylist and many have compared her range, class and swing that of to eternal jazz lights like Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, and Nancy Wilson. Given her 40-year plus boundary-busting career, such labeling confusion is inevitable. Marlena is universally admired for her warm, supple voice and relaxed charm; a natural storyteller, her spoken words before, during, and between songs is often hilarious. There is a $35-$40 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
