SUNDAY CABARET IN PALM SPRINGS, CA: SHARON SILLS TO PERFORM AT ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATER - MAY 22nd

SUNDAY CABARET IN PALM SPRINGS, CA: SHARON SILLS TO PERFORM AT ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATER - MAY 22nd

Recent desert transplant, Sharon Sills, has already taken the valley by storm at various venues throughout the valley. But on Sunday, May 22nnd at 2:00 pm, she will "Sharon Sing Them All" at THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) as part of Les Michael's Sundays In Summer Cabaret Series. The show will feature some of Sharon's most requested songs with pianist, Paul Eshelman in concert. Sharon started out as a singer in Las Vegas but opened a boutique woman's wear store because she just loves clothes; this led to opening 6 more between there and Orange County. A frequent visitor to Palm Springs with husband, 'RJ', she began getting up to sing at clubs, piano bars, and open mics, and before she knew it, the job offers followed. She's was a weekly performer at Woody's before moving to the Purple Room where she appears on Thursday nights. Her repertoire is as vast as the array of her fans, everything from the last 7 decades, and from Pop, Rock, Country, and Broadway. Her voice easily handles a soft ballad to the biggest belter. Her performance on Sunday, May 22nd will feature a little bit of everything and will be her cabaret debut in the desert, something she has been looking forward to. Tickets are $11 cash only at the box office, and doors open at 1:00 pm.

It's a pop-contemporary spin on several well known standards, combined with new songs, a mix of jazz, pop, and theatre, that intelligently explore the human condition and strike a universal chord. On this CD, three songs were written expressly for Raissa - two by Michael John LaChiusa: "Torch Song for Raissa" and "Bye, Bye, Ingenue", and onw by David Caldwell: "i carry your heart". Two other songs received their first commercial recording here: Ron Abel and Chuck Steffan's "Waiting for a Westbound Train," and "How Could I Not?" is from the David Spencer/cAlan Menken musical, THE APPRENTICESHIP OF DUDDY KRAVITZ. On Broadway: Raissa was "Christine Daae" in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and performed in CHESS, as a benefit for the Actor's Fund. First National Tours: "Jellylorum/Griddlebone" and "Jennyanydots" in CATS, and as "Lizzie Phagan" in PARADE, where she worked with the original creative team of director Harold Prince, choreographer Patricia Birch, author Alfred Uhry, and composer Jason Robert Brown. In NYC, Raissa has headlined at: Feinstein's, Metropolitan Room, Iridium and The Laurie Beechman Theatre. She has guest starred at: The Supper Club, Rainbow Room, 88's, Don't Tell Mama, Chita's, The Algonquin, and Radio City Music Hall. She has soloed with many symphony orchestras and was guest soloist at the estate of the legendary Cal Ripken, Jr. She was featured at the Lincoln Center Barnes and Noble in their Any Wednesday series, performing selections from her CD, What I Was Dreaming Of. NYC: ELAINE BRIER IN PUT YOUR FUNNY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS - JUNE 19th

Elaine Brier brings her new show 'Put Your Funny Where Your Mouth Is' to THE CUTTING ROOM (44 East 32nd Street, NYC - 212-691-1900) on Saturday, June 18th at 7:30 pm. Elaine Brier is a singer/ comic who has been entertaining people with inappropriate material for longer than she cares to remember. A native New Yorker from the Bronx, she attended the High School of Music and Art to study vocal music and did not dance on a table even once. She started her performing career in the 90's, singing in local New York City piano bars and practicing the fine art of shtick. Elaine has done many other things over the years such as voice overs, commercials, television, corporate gigs, birthing babies, etc., but performing for a live audience is still where her passion lies. She won the Backstage Bistro Award in 2003 for her one woman show, "Jirque du Soleil," and was given the MAC Award for "Best Piano Bar Performer" in 2015. She has been a staple at Don't Tell Mama Piano Bar for over 20 years and is very happy to have it as her second home. Elaine has three kids and hopes to write some songs that they are allowed to listen to some day. Put Your Funny Where Your Mouth Is is Elaine's first venture out of the piano bar since her children usurped her life. Through musical comedy, she reflects upon motherhood, divorce, returning to college after 25 years, religion, and shamelessly lowering her standards. This show contains all new material and she is very excited to inflict it upon the masses. There is a $25 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

City greens need constant attention, repair and upkeep. Music and Art for City Greens helps by producing free professional music and art events to build community awareness and increase donations to spaces which otherwise might go wanting.

Since 2008, when Broadway actress and award winning cabaret veteran Raissa Katona Bennett first brought the joy of live music to Tudor City, thousands of people have enjoyed these concerts under the trees and have come away with new appreciation for and dedication to the green spaces in their midst.

Music and Art for City Greens is a 501c3 non-profit, and all performers and support people generously donate their time and talent for these events. 100% of all donations given by attendees at this summer concert series are collected directly by the Tudor City Greens organization for the upkeep of these spaces.
