Maria Muldaur is best known world wide for her '74 mega-hit "Midnight at the Oasis," which received several Grammy nominations, and enshrined her forever in the hearts of Baby Boomers everywhere. Despite her considerable Pop Music success, her 39-year career could best be described as a long and adventurous odyssey through the various forms of American Roots Music. In the 39 years since "Midnight at the Oasis," Maria has toured extensively worldwide, and has recorded 40 solo albums covering all kinds of American Roots music, including Gospel, R&B, Jazz and Big Band (not to mention several award-winning children's albums), before settling comfortably into her favorite idiom, the Blues, in recent years. Often joining forces with some of the top names in the business, Maria has recorded and produced on-average an album per year, several of which have been nominated for Grammy and other awards. She has stockpiled myriad and outrageous, wacky musical commentaries on the 12 days of everything from Santa, Jesus, Teddy Bears, Elves, Snow, and of course ... Bette Davis. Sharon Mcnight made her Broadway debut in 1989 in Starmites, creating the role of Diva. She received a Tony Award nomination as "Best Leading Actress in a Musical" for her performance, and is the recipient of the coveted Theatre Worlds Award for "Outstanding Broadway Debut." NYC: REBECCA JOY FLETCHER WITH CITIES OF LIGHT

Cities of Light is a one-woman musical journey through the cabarets of 20s and 30s Berlin, Tel Aviv, Warsaw, and Paris. The show, which will be presented by Rebecca Joy Fletcher at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, December 12th at 7:00 pm, is a love letter to that era and to the witty and outspoken Jewish artists who made those places pop. Archival songs are performed with new English lyrics, plus a smattering of their original French, German, Yiddish, and Hebrew. Our guide into this lost world: Katarina Waldorf, a fierce, sardonic and sensual artist who runs from fascism, towards new lights of cabaret, as the world around her grows dark. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: DANIEL KIRKLEY CELEBRATES NEW HOLIDAY CD AT SIDEWALK CAFE

Singer/songwriter Daniel Kirkley will make his New York debut and perform two acoustic sets as part of the new "Landmark Wednesdays" series of concerts at the historic SIDEWALK CAFE (94 Avenue A, NYC - 212-473-7373 ) on Wednesday, December 12th at 8:00 and 10:00 pm. These two very special shows will celebrate Kirkley's new holiday album, "Love Is Christmas," which blends secular and sacred music. Daniel Kirkley is a singer-songwriter who recently relocated to New York City from Nashville, TN. Over the past 7 years, he has toured the country performing solo shows in a variety of venues in support of his four albums. This year, he made his acting debut in Bobby Cronin's musical Daybreak. There is a $20 cover plus a 1-drink minimum.

54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) presents BACKSTAGE, Broadway's Tuesday night cocktail party/songfest, hosted by Susie Mosher at 10:30 pm. Musical Director Brad Simmons keeps the house jumping from the piano, while host Mosher guides the crowd through an evening of music, mayhem and full throttle belting. Special guests from hit Broadway shows drop in to perform. Members of the "Backstage repertory company", featuring some of New York's most exciting musical theatre talent, are on hand each week to sing everything from Schwartz to Sondheim. NYC: DONN TRENNER AND SHAYNEE RAINBOLT ARE "TWO FOR THE ROAD"

Emmy-nominated musical director, conductor, arranger and jazz pianist Donn Trenner, in his first New York major engagement in 25 years, collaborates with the MAC and Bistro Award-winning jazz vocalist Shaynee Rainbolt on four Fridays in September atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). That critically acclaimed engagement returns to the Metropolitan Room in New York City for Four encore performances: Sunday, December 9th at 4:00 pm; Tuesday, December 11th at 7:00 pm; and Saturday and Sunday December 15th & 16th at 4:00 pm. A bebop pianist of distinction Trenner played with the likes of Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Oscar Pettiford, Charles Mingus, and Ben Webster, appearing on over 100 jazz albums from 1950 onward. A leading musical director, Trenner appeared nightly on the famed Steve Allen Show, leading the Donn Trenner Orchestra. He was also Ann-Margret's musical director for 18 years, and he worked extensively touring with Shirley MacLaine, and was musical director for Nancy Wilson. A Bistro Award winner, two-time MAC Award winner, and four-time MAC Award nominee, Shaynee's first two CD's were released on 33Jazz Records out of the UK (www.33jazz.com). Her third CD, "Charmed Life: Shaynee Rainbolt SINGS Russell Garcia," won the MAC Award for best Jazz Recording. Her most recent show honored the legendary composer/ arranger/ conductor Russell Garcia on the occasion of his 95th birthday, touring Australia, New Zealand, and the US. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
