CABARET TONIGHT IN LONDON AT CRAZY COQS - LONDON FESTIVAL OF CABARET

CABARET TONIGHT IN LONDON AT CRAZY COQS - LONDON FESTIVAL OF CABARET
Here are today's cabaret events at Crazy Coqs London as listed on the home page of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE! Every day in every way we're promoting Cabaret! Your event missing? Send press releases to stuhamstra@svhamstra.com to be included - listings are FREE!

LONDON: SIMON GREEN WITH DAVID SHRUBSOLE AT CRAZY COQS
LONDON FESTIVAL OF CABARET EVENT

Simon Green makes his THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) debut with a brand-new show, 'This Then Is Life', on Tuesday through Saturday, May 6th through 10th at 8:00 pm. If you could sit down with your 21 year old self and share the surprises that life will bring ... what would you say? This Then Is Life explores the paths untrodden, mistakes repeated and ridiculous responses to an ever-changing world. Together with his long-time cabaret partner, virtuoso pianist, composer and arranger David Shrubsole, Green casts his uniquely British gaze over life's rude awakenings. As in their Drama Desk-nominated Travelling Light, the two concoct a theatrical marriage of word, music and truths that aim to transport you to a former, more innocent incarnation of yourself. With inimitable expertise, Simon and David bring their unique cabaret skills to some of the greatest musical writings of the 20th century. The duo's customary approach to their work is to begin with words and lyrics and in this show they draw on the works of an eclectic collection of artists, balancing the heartfelt sentiment of Noel Coward with the contemporary freshness of Elton John, the melodic vigour of Sondheim with the lyricism of Rudyard Kipling and uncovering an inspired piece that blends the words of Alexander Pushkin with the musical magic of Donald Swann. A little Lily Allen, Styles and Drewe, Duncan Sheik and, of course, David Shrubsole himself are also included. Call for cover/minimum information.

LONDON: LATE NIGHT JAZZ: IAN SHAW

Ian Shaw celebrates the great singer-songwriters from Leiber & Stoller, the Beatles, Carol King and Joni Mitchell to Elton John, David Bowie and Amy Winehouse at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Saturday, May 10th at 10:30 pm. Described as one of the most distinctive, original and creative jazz singers on the scene, Shaw is also a talented pianist and songwriter. Twice voted 'Best Jazz Vocalist' at the BBC Jazz Awards, nominated for a JazzFM award and with more than a dozen albums to his name, he is much in demand as the featured soloist with big bands and orchestras both in the UK and internationally, as well as pairing with the likes of Guy Barker, Liane Carroll and Claire Martin. Call for cover/minimum information.
