DC: BLUES ALLEY PRESENTS JERRY "THE ICEMAN" BUTLER

Award-winning performer, producer and composer Jerry "The Iceman" Butler performs at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Friday through Sunday, February 15 through 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. As soulful as ever, yet smooth as ice, his nickname "The Ice Man" epitomizes his demeanor and sound. In spite of his status as a true music icon, he remains humble. Butler acquired his initial music lessons as a young boy while a member of the church choir in Chicago. Curtis Mayfield, who was three years younger, was also a member of the same choir. The two befriended each other and began a collaboration that would have an everlasting impact on music. Call for cover/minimum information.

BOS: 3 COHENS SEXTET AT SCULLERS

The best jazz groups are made up of kindred spirits, but the rare family band has something more - an intuitive feel for each other that goes beyond words and gestures to a kind of bred-in-the-bone telepathy. The 3 Cohens are that sort of uncommon collective, a trio of siblings from Tel Aviv, Israel - tenor saxophonist/ clarinetist Anat Cohen, trumpeter Avishai Cohen and soprano saxophonist Yuval Cohen - whose sense of improvisational interplay is both uncannily fluent and wonderfully, infectiously warm. Dinner/show: $70 - Show only $30.

NYC: BEN RIMALOWER: PATTI ISSUES

With a mix of comic irreverence, stark candor and show-biz bravado, Patti Issues poignantly explores the challenges facing LGBT parents and children while shining unique light on gay men's time-old obsessions with divas. When Ben Rimalower was eight years old, his father came out of the closet and embarked on a drug-fueled tear that left his family in tatters. Amid the chaos of his young life, Ben found comfort - like so many gay boys before him and after - in musical theater, and specifically in the transportive voice of Broadway star Patti LuPone.
