MORE "HERE & THERE" PART II - BLOG EDITION

MORE "HERE & THERE" PART II

Tonight I'll be back at THE TOWN HALL for the final show of the 4th ANNUAL SUMMER BROADWAY FESTIVAL. This show is probably the most exciting one (or at least the most energy-packed) of the series, featuring Broadway show tunes sporting brand new choreography performed by today's Broadway song and dance stars. Some good seats are still available, and I hope that I get to see many cabaret fans at the show, as usual.

In the listings today we tried to include all the cabaret items through August 15th, and we managed to use up all the complete ones we had (remember, fliers and website URLs are not press releases) but several club schedules for August have yet to be received, so we can't claim that all are included quite yet. Hopefully the remaining schedules will be received so that we can include any items missed in the Thursday issue.

I remind you that we try to include and give preference to press releases received directly from performers and publicists, rather than rely on club schedule releases or items posted on Yahoo or Google groups boards. We usually only use items from those other sources to fill in for dates for which we have no direct releases. If the issue is running long, we usually leave them out.

See a show or two this week! Visit our websites! Run a banner or sidebar ad! Join CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE for 2010-2011. Now - more than ever - cabaret (and CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE) needs your support. Every day, in every way, we're promoting cabaret!

Look for more news on the website ( http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/ ), on the blog ( http://cabarethotlineonline.blogspot.com/ ) and updates, picks & reminders on TWITTER ( http://twitter.com/cabarethotline ).

And that's just about the way it was. I still have a lot more to tell you about but we've run out of space so the rest will have to wait until Thursday's issue.
Thanks for your support of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE!
Hugs & Stuff,
STU

HERE & THERE - PART I - BLOG EDITION

HERE & THERE - PART I

We made good use of the heat wave by staying indoors over the weekend to catch up on work that was piling up on our desk, especially sending out CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE 2010-2011 MEMBERSHIP CARDS. We had to update our database with all the folks who joined since our 20th ANNIVERSARY GALA on the 13th, and we pretty much accomplished that.

As of yesterday, we tallied 175 official members, with a few additional "in transit" - folks who requested "PayPal Invoices" but had not sent in payments yet. I also have a stack of envelopes to go over for a second time to make sure that checks that had been enclosed were posted properly (we were receiving checks for gala tickets at the same time as MEMBERSHIP payments).

With one week left before the end of the month, it would really be great if we could reach 200 members by the 31st. And the next goal would be 300 by August 31st - dare we hope?

Remember - we set our membership renewals to take place in July & August, when our Banner Ad income usually drops to nearly zero, so not only do you get more months of benefits by joining now, your payment is received just when we need it most.

Special note to 2009-2010 members who have not renewed: we'll be running the current CD SALE pages through August 31st, while adding the CD SALE pages of new members every week. At the end of August we will delete all the CD SALE, BLOG LINKS and YOUTUBE links from those special sections on the website of those who haven't renewed, as well as the 2009-2010 Member Pages (with website, MySpace, FaceBook and Twitter links. Don't miss a day of benefits! Renew today.

We've also made some changes regarding shows offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. These items will be promoted as in the past on the special CABARET DISCOUNTS page on the website, and included every Saturday in the special MEMBERS ONLY NEWSLETTER. They will also appear in the newsletter along with other news items. However, to keep the newsletter as short as possible, we will only repeat discounted show announcements for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE in every Monday issue up to the show date. Formerly, all shows offering discounts were included in the Monday issues.

NYC: SPENCER DAY AT JOE'S PUB MONDAYS IN JULY - FINAL SHOW

NYC: SPENCER DAY AT JOE'S PUB MONDAYS IN JULY

Vocalist-songwriter-pianist Spencer Day will be preforming at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - Tele-Charge: 1-212-239-6200 - Box Office: 212-539-8778) on Mondays, July 12th, 19th & 26th at 7:30 pm. Day is an artistic vagabond, a modern-day musical nomad. Born in Utah, raised in rural Arizona, currently living in Los Angeles with extended residencies in New York and San Francisco, Day has called many places home. Along the way, he has wandered amid the expansive and diverse landscape of American music, developing an artistic sensibility that borrows from numerous sources: jazz, musical theater, cabaret, soul, folk, traditional pop and contemporary pop are just the tip of the iceberg. Day uses intuition and improvisation as his primary tools to craft a sound that is traditional and familiar, yet fresh and innovative at the same time, creating a blend too subtle to parse into neatly defined categories. Vagabond, his new release and his first on Concord Jazz, cements his reputation as a balladeer for the new century whose creative voice is distilled from the best elements of the previous one. Tickets are $15 in advance/ $20 at the door.
