Paula West has captured the hearts of critics and audiences alike from coast to coast. Known and respected for her creative and distinct repertoire, West adds her own depth and drama to whichever song she chooses for the moment, creating whole new frameworks of meaning for American favorites. Craig Rubano who has one of the finest voices in Manhattan cabaret, comes to KRANZBERG ART CENTER STUDIO THEATRE (501 North Grand Street, St. Louis, MO - 314-795-8778) with his new show "We Can Be Kind" on Thursday through Saturday, March 10th through 12th, all shows at 8:00 pm. He brings a compelling songlist with him, from Cole Porter to Hoagie Carmichael to Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, David Friedman and Stephen Schwartz, songs that have have meant a lot to him along his way. Drawing from his life experiences as Broadway actor (two years as Darius in Les Mis) cabaret singer (Carlyle, Algonquin) and now seminarian, St. Louis native Craig Rubano performs a collection of songs handpicked for this engagement: whether written by Richard Rodgers or Cole Porter, Joni Mitchell or Paul Simon, these are songs that have inspired and sustained him along the way. The show's title is taken from a David Friedman song of the same name which sums up Craig's growing life philosophy: whatever comes, We Can Be Kind. Eric Michael Gillett's acclaimed show "Widescreen: Songs From & About the Movies" will be presented on Saturday night, March 12th, at 7:30 PM, at theROGER BERLIND THEATRE AT THE MCCARTER THEATRE CENTER (91 University Place Princeton, NJ - 609-258-278 - ). Eric is joined by Jaff Cubeta as musical director and Tom Hubbard on bass. Widescreen is for anyone who has ever stumbled into a darkened movie house to escape the tumult of every day life, a magical journey into the world of flickering light projected on a silver screen. WIDESCREEN uses the silver screen as a jumping off point, borrowing songs written specifically for motion pictures ("Theme from Valley of the Dolls," "Moon River," "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?") and marrying them to music from theater ("If the World Were Like the Movies") and contemporary pop ("Widescreen," "Erroll Flynn") to explore the world of the movies and the fantasies, illusions, and lies that fill our lives. Vocalist Maude Maggart, who first captivated Oak Room audiences six years ago with her "transformative interpretations" of the Great American Songbook, returns to the THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-419-9331) on Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:30 pm (with late shows on Friday & Saturday at 11:00 pm) through March 12th with a new show exploring varieties of romantic experience, performing such Sinatra classics as "The Lady Is A Tramp," "The Best is Yet To Come" and "I Wished On The Moon"; two by Stephen Sondheim, "More" and "Everybody Says Don't," and from the 20s, an iconic era for Maude, "A New Kind of Man with a New Kind of Love for Me," among others. Master pianist Cedar Walton will be performing at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, March 8th through 12th, with performances at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Walton has enjoyed an uptempo career for over fifty years. Maintaining an active touring schedule, Walton has accompanied an ever-increasing list of jazz greats while also leading his own successful groups. From his native Dallas, Texas, Walton ventured to New York and began working locally with Lou Donaldson, Gigi Gryce, Sonny Rollins and Kenny Dorham before landing his first touring job with J.J. Johnson. During a three-year association with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers in the early 1960s, Walton emerged as a composer, contributing originals like "Mosaic" and "The Promised Land" to the group's recordings for the Blue Note and Riverside labels. From there, Walton embarked on a variety of projects with artists such Ron Carter, Billy Higgins, Harold Land, Bobby Hutcherson, Curtis Fuller, Buster Williams and Billy Higgins, Milt Jackson, Frank Morgan, Dexter Gordon, vocalists Ernestine Anderson and Freddy Cole, and The Trumpet Summit Band. There is a $30/$40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

Legendary singer-songwriter Judy Collins, opened a month-long engagement Tuesday, with performances Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:45 pm, through March 12th, with singer-songwriter Kenny White taking the stage for the late show at 10:45 pm on Saturday evenings. Ms. Collins musical director is Russell Walden. There is a $125-$175 cover Tuesdays through Thursdays, dinner required. Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night in March at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Joining Varney onstage are Kate Wetherhead (Legally Blonde, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Submissions Only), Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods), Howie Michael Smith (Avenue Q) and Brad Nacht (Billy Elliot). Keith Varney's musical, I Got Fired: A Semi-Autobiographical Sort-of-True Revenge Musical played to sold-out audiences at NYMF 2010. and subsequently won both the Theater for the American Musical Award and the DIMF Production Award (which includes a full production with South Korea's Daegu International Musical Festival). Jim Caruso presents the return of singer Luba Mason to the Broadway at Birdland concert series at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, March 7th at 7:00 pm. After living in Los Angeles for the past 12 years, Luba Mason has moved back to NYC, and will be celebrating the city of her birth by infusing a story of newly arranged standards in a "cool, Brazilian style" with original songs, and reprising selections from her last two acclaimed albums "Krazy Love" and "Collage". Material in this concert will also include "All Of Me," "Love For Sale," "Too Darn Hot," "I Love the Sunrise" among others. Kim Smith is currently serving as as resident host of "Vauxhall Kabarett," a late-night musicale at VLADA LOUNGE (331 West 51st Street, NYC - 212-974-8030 - ) every Monday night starting at 10:30 pm. Taking inspiration from both 1920s Berlin boy-bars and 1950s New York nightlife, Vauxhall features taut, shirtless bar boys, absinthe cocktails and a glittering parade of musical guests. This weeks guests, on Monday, March 7th, are TBA. As usual, Kim will play host and sing of pop-tastic Weimar heartbreak, to the piano accompaniment of Steven Ray Watkins. There is no cover charge.

Coming in June to NYC: A Master Class with Wesla Whitfield and Mike Greensill! Three hour class sessions with no more than five participants per session, with an emphasis on lyric interpretation and performance technique. Classes are on Wednesday, June 1st; Thursday, June 2nd; and Saturday, June 4th - all sessions from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Location of Master Classes to be announced shortly. Cost per session is $150. Wesla and Mike have recorded 21 CDs and are known for their dynamic and well-heralded performances in the finest concert halls and performance venues throughout the world. CCP (Chicago Cabaret Professionals)presents "Have I got a Story for You!" presenting Great Story Songs from 1930-2010 at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - on Sundays in March, the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th at 7:00 pm. Over 30 talented singers will perform America's favorite story songs. Each night will feature 20 years of memorable stories melodically told starting in 1930 and going all the way to the hits of today. On March 6th: 1930s & 1940s featuring One For My Baby and Arthur Murray Taught Me Dancing in a Hurry. FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) has announced that the acclaimed jazz vocalist Nicole Henry has been scheduled to appear on Sunday, March 6th at 8:30 pm. Nicole Henry has toured thirteen countries and released three international Top 10-selling jazz CDs. Her latest, The Very Thought of You, reached #7 on the U.S. Billboard Jazz Chart. Nicole's first two CDs climbed to #2 and #1 in Japan, earning her "Best New Jazz Artist" and "Best Vocal Jazz Album" HMV Awards. Born in Philadelphia, Nicole resides in Miami and has been singing jazz since 2002, receiving praise from publications such as NY Times, Billboard, Jazz Times, Japan Times and Jazz Hot France. She has performed with the Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway Orchestras and tour highlights include Jazz a Juan les Pins on the French Riviera, Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival, Nango & Tendo Jazz Festivals in Japan, and Lincoln Center in New York. Mark Janas' Salon is held at ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) every Sunday evening from 7:00 to 10:30 pm with one intermission The Salon is where singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members around a chosen theme. The theme for Sunday, March 6th is "Rock On!" Co-Hosts will be Hey Guy! Boris Pelekh, Leo Pelekh & Tommy Shull (Jake Hertzog & Daniel Jakubovic are unable to attend), who will rock the house with tunes from their debut CD 'Hey Guy' on NBino Records. As always, the theme is only a suggestion; you may perform anything you like in any musical genre: Broadway, pop, rock, country, jazz, classical, etc. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis, with one intermission. Doors open and sign up begins at 6:15 pm. There is a $10 cash cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

Joi Danielle Price makes her debut at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) with one more performance of her show "Unfiltered", on Sunday, March 6th at 9:30 pm. Unfiltered is an exploration of music that holds back nothing and reveals everything, for better or for worse. Joi Danielle Price takes you through the most works of Henry Mancini, Harold Arlen, Alanis Morissette and variety of others in between in her cabaret debut. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan's Musical Theatre Program whose credits include Ragtime: The Musical (National Tour) and Mamma Mia! (Broadway and National Tour), various readings and regional theater. She is an accomplished dancer, musician, and teacher of Music Together. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
