NYC: PETER MAZZA AT BIRDLAND

Peter Mazza, a jazz guitarist born and raised in NYC, will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080)on Thursday, November 13th at 6:00 pm. Mazza holds degrees from both the Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School. His first pivotal gig was leading a four-night-a week jam session at Augie's Jazz Bar (now called Smoke), where he played with Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove, Joel Frahm, Chris Potter, Donny McCaslin, Uri Cane, Christian McBride, Larry Grenadier, Dwayne Burno, Greg Hutchinson, Jeff Ballard and many others. Peter went on to gain acceptance to the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition and was a semifinalist. His groups have been featured at New York City jazz venues, such as Dizzy's Club, Birdland, The Knitting Factory and the Cornelia Street Cafe. Peter is the Musical Director for the Bar Next Door, where he helped to implement the 7-night-a-week jazz schedule and currently does all the music booking. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: KARRIN ALLYSON AT BIRDLAND

Multiple Grammy nominated singer and pianist Karrin Allyson will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, November 11th through 15th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Karrin has become known for the wide range of material she explores, always striving to find new ways of singing a story. For this engagement, Karrin and band set out to play new original music as well as re-making some favorites, surrounded by the soulful, sustaining sound of the classic organ trio• with some twists. Joining her are co-writer Chris Caswell on Hammond B-3 organ, long-time musical partner & guitarist Rod Fleeman, and fiery drummer extraordinaire Adam Cruz. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: GATO BARBIERI AT THE BLUE NOTE
Jazz trumpeter Gato Barbieri will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592)for one night only on Thursday, November 13th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. His enduring career has covered virtually the entire jazz landscape, from free jazz with trumpeter Don Cherry and avant-garde in the mid-60s, to film scoring and his ultimate embrace of Latin music throughout the 70s and 80s. Barbieri began playing tenor saxophone with his own band in the late 50s and moved to Rome with his Italian-born first wife Michelle in 1962, where he began collaborating with Cherry. The two recorded two albums for Blue Note: Complete Communion (1965) and Symphony for Improvisers (1966), both of which are considered classics of free group improvisation. He also collaborated with Steve Lacy, Abdullah Ibrahim, Charlie Haden, Carla Bley and the Jazz Composer's Orchestra, Stanley Clarke, Airto Moreira, Chico O'Farrell, and Lonnie Liston Smith during this period. There is a $30-$45 cover.
NYC: ELLIS MARSALIS 80TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT DIZZY'S

DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595)is honored to host Ellis Marsalis for his 80th Birthday celebration on Thursday through Sunday, November 13th through 16th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. The NEA Jazz Master pianist brings his tried-and-true quartet of New Orleans-born master musicians, including Derek Douget, Jason Stewart, and Herlin Riley for a very special four-night run. A masterclass in straight-ahead jazz and bop, these sets are highly recommended for listeners of all experience levels, from those who have never set foot in a jazz club, to those who have been listening to Ellis for the last 60 years. Join us at the club for a festive celebration of a living legend and the patriarch of the most ubiquitous family in jazz. There is a $35-$45 cover.
