George V Johnson takes up a one-month residency at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800 - http://www.bohemiancaverns.com ) on Tuesdays in November with shows at 7:30 & 9:00 pm. Called "Heir Apparent" by the great Eddie Jefferson, Father of the Art of Jazz Vocalese, Johnson is considered as one of the foremost practitioners of the Art Form today. Throughout the 80's George was mentored and performed regularly with James Moody & Lou Donaldson, two of the greatest saxophonist in the history of Jazz. His close association with Moody led to perform at many jazz clubs, festivals, concert halls as well as local & National Live Radio and Television BroadcastFor the past several years performances with NEA Jazz Masters, Benny Golson, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Cobb, Jimmy Heath have sparked a new found interest in his career. His re-emergence on the jazz scene has blossomed to concerts at the American Jazz Museum "Tribute to Charlie Parker" with Bobby Watson, Detroit Jazz Festival with the Wallace Roney Orchestra, DC Poetry Festival, Parma Jazz Festival, Ashdod Super Jazz Festival, DC Jazz Festival, Raleigh NC, Richmond Va Jazz Festival, Bohemian Caverns and more. There is a $10 cover.

WASHINGTON, DC: MARIANNE SOLIVAN AT BLUES ALLEY
Quickly becoming one of the most buzzed about jazz singers on the New York scene, Marianne Solivan performs at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Tuesday, November 11th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Marianne does not remember an "ah-ha" moment that brought her to the music she has devoted herself to. The infallible swing of Ella, the daring of Betty Carter, the matter-of factness of Carmen McCrae: They can all be found in the voice of Marianne Solivan. There is a $20 cover.
