SAN FRANCISCO: BETTY BUCKLEY: "THE LYRICIST"

Tony Award winning actress and singer Betty Buckley returns to FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063)with her new show, The Lyricist, celebrating some of the greatest writers of the Broadway and American Songbooks on Thursday through Sunday, November 13th through 16th with shows at 8:00 pm. Ms. Buckley will pay particular homage to Oscar Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim and contemporary writers including Mary Chapin Carpenter. It is a collection featuring new arrangements of some of Buckley's favorite songs, some of which are featured on her new recording "Ghostlight" produced by T Bone Burnett on Palmetto Records. One of the theatre's most respected and legendary leading ladies, Buckley's career has also included film, television and some the world's most prestigious concert halls. Buckley won a Tony Award for her performance as Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats and received her second Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a musical for her role, Hesione in Triumph of Love and an Olivier Award nomination for her critically acclaimed interpretation of Norma Desmond in the London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard which she repeated to more rave reviews on Broadway. Her other Broadway credits include 1776, Pippin, Song and Dance, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Carrie. Off Broadway she appeared in the 2013 world premier of Horton Foote's The Old Friends at the Signature Theatre for which she received a Drama Desk nomination. In London's West End, Buckley she also starred in Dear World and Promises, Promises. There is a $65-$80 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
