BOSTON: YOKO MIWA TRIO AT SCULLERS
The Yoko Miwa Trio will perform at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB (400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111)on Thursday, November 13th at 8:00 pm. The trio was voted "Best Jazz Act" in 2012 in the Boston Phoenix jazz poll. In addition to working regularly with her own trio, Miwa has performed with George Garzone, Slide Hampton, Terri Lyne Carrington, to name a few. Call for cover/minimum information.
TORONTO: WILLIAM CARN QUINTET AT THE JAZZ BISTRO
Trombonist William Carn will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299)on Thursday through Saturday, November 13th through 15th at 9:00 pm. Carn has emerged as one of Canada's leading contemporary jazz trombonists and composer. He has performed internationally as well as throughout Canada. He was nominated for a 2014 best traditional jazz Juno Award for the Carn Davidson NINE as well as being nominated in 2007 for his debut release, Other Stories. He has also been nominated for Trombonist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards from 2004 to 2008. Carn has performed and recorded with international jazz artists including Rob McConnell, Joel Frahm, Randy Brecker, David Binney, Kenny Wheeler, Ingrid Jensen, Mike Murley, Tim Hagans, Barry Harris, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Vince Mendoza, Don Braden, Mike Murley, Hilario Duran, Emile-Claire Barlow, Dionne Taylor, Andrew Downing, Jim McNeely, and John Clayton. There is a $15 cover.
TORONTO: JAZZ BISTRO YOUNG ARTIST SERIES: ELI PASIC
Eli Pasic performs at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Wednesday & Thursday, November 12th & 13th at 6:00 pm as part of the club's Young Artist Series.As a pianist, composer-lyricist, librettist and comic, Eli Pasic is a conduit to the old school world of jazz and musical comedy. Prior to his studies at Berklee School of Music in Boston, Eli was mentored by Broadway orchestrator and conductor Larry Blank and has been a part of over a dozen stage musicals as a musician and author. He's committed to reviving the classic style of golden era entertainment in his writing and playing, with songs by Cole Porter, the Gershwins and Rodgers and Hart, among others, in a unique, inimitable fashion. No cover.
