NYC: "RED HOT MAMA: THE SOPHIE TUCKER FAREWELL TOUR"

Tony nominated Sharon McNight is bringing back her hit show "Red Hot Mama" for one last time. "Red Hot Mama: The Sophie Tucker Farewell Tour" will be presented at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, August 1st at 9:30 pm; and Sunday August 3rd at 9:30 pm. The comic singer originally performed this show, with a sold out run at the fabled Rainbow in Stars back in 1996. She followed that with a four-month, Off-Broadway run at the York Theatre. McNight just completed eight weeks as Mrs. Obrien in the San Francisco Opera's production of "Show Boat," soon to be seen on PBS. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

SALEM, NY: CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? OPENS AT FORT SALEM THEATER

Celebrating seven years of collaboration on Fort Salem Theater's original Mainstage musicals, Al Budde and Jay Kerr open their new show, Can You Hear Me Now? on The MAINSTAGE AT FORT SALEM THEATER (11 East Broadway, Salem, NY - 518-854-9200) running from Friday, August 1st through Sunday, August 10th with shows Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Can You Hear Me Now? follows the storybook life of Jake Cochran, played by regional professional actor Benjamin Katagiri. Mom is played by Manhattan actress Mary Lou Barber, a veteran of national tours of Cats, 42nd Street, and A Chorus Line, and the John Waters cult classic film, Hairspray. Exploring the differences between listening, hearing, and paying no attention at all, Can You Hear Me Now? examines the ironies of how inventions created to make life simpler and communication easier have generated new distance in personal relationships. HERNDON, VA: NEXTSTOP THEATRE SUMMER CABARET SERIES - ANDRE ENCENEAT

NextStop Theatre Company has announced the next bold, new offering in their ambitious inaugural season atNEXTSTOP THEATRE (269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, VA - 866-811-4111). Under the leadership of Series Producer, area based performing artist Jim Van Slyke, the company will present eighteen intimate concerts, featuring a eclectic mixture of Broadway stars, nationally acclaimed cabaret artists and some of the finest local singers in the DC Metropolitan area. Running from Friday, July 11th to Saturday, August 16th in the company's 114-seat black box theatre, audiences will be invited to grab a drink or snack from the bar and be transported for evenings featuring classics from musical theatre, jazz, rock, soul and even current hits. On Friday, August 1st at 8:00 pm Andre Enceneat will take the stage at NextStop. A WAMMIE Award winning pop, jazz and R&B artist, Andre has sung back up for George Benson and is member of the renown Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet. Mr. Enceneat presents an evening of intimate jazz standards featuring Jazz pianist Pete Frassrand.

Laura Freeman, Beckie Menzie & Marianne Murphy Orland celebrate the ground-breaking music of Carole King, Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell atDAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Friday & Saturday, August 1st & 2nd at 8:00 pm and Sunday, August 3rd at 7:00 pm. The show is inspired by the book "Girls Like Us". DALLAS, TX: SPECIAL CABARET EVENT AT DALLAS SAMMONS CENTER

Carolyn Lee Jones and Laura Ainsworth and others will be appearing on Friday, August 1st at the DALLAS SAMMONS CENTER (630 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas, TX) in Cabaret & Cabernet, a special evening of fine music and fine wine. Designed as a fundraiser for the promising Sammons Cabaret series, the event will begin with a cabernet wine tasting at 7:30 p., followed by a showcase of nearly one dozen local cabaret singers. Emceed by Denise Lee and Linda Petty, Cabaret & Cabernet will feature (in addition to Carolyn and Laura) Lynne Cadena, Victor Cager, Teddy Davey, Diana Gale, W.T. Greer, Tony Hakim, and Sara Shelby-Martin. The Larry Petty Piano Trio will accompany the singers, who will perform one song each.
