Spotlight On Productions is proud to return Teresa Fischer aka "Lady T" and her wonderfully upbeat and lively musical hour DESTINATIONS & DETOURS to Manhattan's delightful new room on the cabaret scene SOPHIE'S at BROADWAY (318 West 53rd Street, NYC - 212-757-2323). The first performance will be on Wednesday July 16th at 6:00 pm with the second on Sunday July 27th at 7:00 pm. Traveling some interesting musical highways and byways, "Lady T" takes us on this journey with an earnest and humorous look at the human condition using an eclectic range of songs in a variety of styles. The evening includes songs by Mary Chapin Carpenter, Julie Gold, Nanci Griffith, Randy Newman, Shel Silverstein and others. Cabaret veteran Paul Chamlin is the musical director and one-man band for this fun evening that features special musical arrangements by Paul Chamlin and Andrew David Sotomayor. NYC: ELAINE ST. GEORGE TAKES ACCLAIMED SHOW TO BROADWAY
Elaine St. George is taking her Steve Goodman show to Broadway on Sunday, July 27th! After receiving rave reviews for this show she will be presenting it atTHE IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) with shows at 8:30 & 10:30 pm. It is an amazing show about a songwriter you will swear you never heard of - at least until Elaine begins performing her song list. NYC: THE QUENTIN ANGUS QUARTET WITH YOUNGJOO SONG
World renowned South Korean pianist Youngjoo Song (Sony/ EMI) visits NYC to join forces with Aussie guitarist Quentin Angus, to present an evening of original music by both Song and Angus at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, July 27th at 9:30 pm. Rounding out the quartet is fellow Australian Des White (bass), and one of the world's foremost innovators of modern drumming, Ari Hoenig. Song has recorded multiple albums for Sony, EMI and Warner, and both Angus and Song have received extensive international acclaim for their music through various awards and honors, including APRA (Australia), the Korean Music Awards, ASCAP (USA), and SABAM (Belgium). There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: MALCOLM GETS: COME A LITTLE CLOSER
Tony nominee Malcolm Gets will perform at 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Sunday, July 27th at 7:00 pm. This will be his 54 Below debut. Trained as a classical pianist, Gets' path was hijacked by his parents' original Broadway cast albums. Come a Little Closer is a celebration of the music that matters most to Gets: Rodgers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Jule Styne, Cole Porter, James Taylor. He may sing something written in this century, but most likely not. Broadway has embraced Malcolm in shows like Amour, The Story of My Life and Macbeth, while television & film audiences fondly remember him from Caroline in the City, Grey Gardens, The Good Wife & Blue Bloods, among many others. There is a $35-$45 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
NYC: 54 DOES DOLLY PARTON
The music of prolific singer/ songwriter and eight time Grammy winner Dolly Parton will be performed in "54 Does Dolly Parton" at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Sunday, July 27th at 9:30 pm. For one night only, join a cast of some of Broadway and cabaret's best as they pay homage to the talents of a woman who literally changed pop and country music forever. Expect tunes ranging from early Dolly (circa Grand Ole Opry) to contemporary Dolly (circa Dollywood) & everything in between! Cast: Lisa Asher, Carole J. Bufford, Scott Coulter, Tim DiPasqua, Natalie Douglas, Alex Getlin, Mary Lane Haskell, Jessica Hendy, Lisa Howard, Fay Ann Lee, Lucia Spina, Gabrielle Stravelli, and KT Sullivan. NYC: MARK JANAS' SALON: IT'S STILL ROCK AND ROLL TO ME
SALON - that unique, Multiple Award Winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas continues atETCETERA ETCETERA(352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sundays from 7:00 to 10:30 pm (sign-up begins at 6:15 pm). The optional theme for Sunday evening July 27th is "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me". Guest Host is Steven Ray Watkins. Co-Host will be Lennie Watts. In the Salon Spotlight: Rain Collazo..
