NYC: BARRET IS BACK ON RESTAURANT ROW
Chris Barrett returns to LA RIVISTA RISTORANTE (313 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-366-4603) on Monday, May 19th, where he will be at the piano Mondays through Wednesdays. There are two shows nightly, a dinner show at 8:00 and a supper show at 10:00 pm. Chris Barrett's performances are in the tradition of the great late-night boites of a fondly remembered era, when the likes of Hugh Shannon, Bobby Short, and Buddy Barnes manned the keyboard. There is no cover charge.

NYC: GABRIELLE STRAVELLI AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Jazz-pop vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli brings her new show to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday, July 29th; and Thursday, July 31st, at 7:00 pm. Director is Marilyn Maye. She will be joined by a dynamic trio: Joshua Richman on piano, Pat O'Leary on bass and Eric Halvorson on drums. The show will feature an eclectic array of tunes ranging from fresh takes on jazz standards and pop classics to original tunes. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: JAZZ LEGEND ANNIE ROSS TUESDAYS THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: JOAN RIVERS: LIVE IN TIMES SQUARE!
Comedy legend Joan Rivers returns with her her live stand-up act to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Tuesday, July 29th at 7:00 pm. Rivers presents an evening of her newest and most outrageous riffs on Hollywood, pop culture, celebrities, reality TV and award show fashions. Rivers delivers a raunchy, politically incorrect evening of stand-up comedy. A full dinner menu and bar are available, and pianist Will Hall plays from the time doors open until Joan takes the stage. NYC: COURTNEY ACT: BOYS LIKE ME
Australian Idol sensation and RuPaul's Drag Race Season 6 contestant Courtney Act returns to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Tuesday through Thursdaym July 29th through 31st at 9:30 pm with an encore of her acclaimed solo show. In Courtney Act: Boys Like Me, the multi-talented drag idol sings her favorite songs and divulges the fascinating and funny dirty laundry list that is her love life. There's that angry text from a straight boy's girlfriend, the twins in Montreal, and the US Marine, just to name a few of the titillating encounters she details in story and song. This tuneful, hysterical performance showcases Courtney's sharp observations of living life on the gender divide, and illustrates what happens when boys like her.
