Laura Freeman, Beckie Menzie & Marianne Murphy Orland celebrate the ground-breaking music of Carole King, Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Friday & Saturday, August 1st & 2nd at 8:00 pm and Sunday, August 3rd at 7:00 pm. The show is inspired by the book "Girls Like Us". Laura, Beckie and Marianne, who bring celebrated solo shows to the Midwest,  reunite for another trio show, where they blend their unique performing styles into a delightful evening dedicated to showcasing the music and stories of three singers who dared to break tradition and become what none had been before them - female confessors in song, rock superstars, and adventurers of heart and soul. DALLAS, TX: SPECIAL CABARET EVENT AT DALLAS SAMMONS CENTER
Carolyn Lee Jones and Laura Ainsworth and others will be appearing on Friday, August 1st at the DALLAS SAMMONS CENTER (630 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas, TX) in Cabaret & Cabernet, a special evening of fine music and fine wine. Designed as a fundraiser for the promising Sammons Cabaret series, the event will begin with a cabernet wine tasting at 7:30 p., followed by a showcase of nearly one dozen local cabaret singers. Emceed by Denise Lee and Linda Petty, Cabaret & Cabernet will feature (in addition to Carolyn and Laura) Lynne Cadena, Victor Cager, Teddy Davey, Diana Gale, W.T. Greer, Tony Hakim, and Sara Shelby-Martin. The Larry Petty Piano Trio will accompany the singers, who will perform one song each. Call the Sammons Center at 214-520-7789 to order tables or tickets; all major credit cards are accepted.
