CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: THE MUSIC OF DEXTER GORDON: A CELEBRATION

The Dexter Gordon Legacy Ensemble With George Cables, piano and musical director; Dezron Douglas, bass; Lewis Nash, drums; Jimmy Greene, tenor saxophone; Jerry Weldon, tenor saxophone; Joe Locke, vibes; and special guest Jimmy Heath (3/2 only) present The Music of Dexter Gordon: A Celebration atDIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Thursday through Sunday, February 27th & 28th and March 1st & 2nd with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Celebrating Dexter Gordon on what would have been his 91st birthday, the great tenor saxophonist and Academy-Award nominee is remembered and honored by a world-class ensemble under the direction of Gordon's pianist and keeper of the flame, George Cables. Members of this group have extensive experience both playing with each other and with Dexter Gordon, making them ideal candidates to honor their friend and colleague on this special occasion. Featuring Gordon's compositions and favorite tunes, this will be an unforgettable night for fans of the late Dexter Gordon, and a perfect opportunity for the uninitiated to experience this iconic music. There is a $40-$45 cover.
