BOSTON: THE RICHIE BEIRACH - JAMIE BAUM DUO AT THE REGATTABAR
The Richie Beirach - Jamie Baum Duo will perform at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Thursday, March 6th at 7:30 pm. Richie Beirach, legendary pianist, composer, educator lived in NYC for several years touring/ performing/ recording with jazz icons including Stan Getz, John Abercrombie, George Adams, Chet Baker, John Scofield. He joined the group "Lookout Farm" formed by Dave Liebman in 1973 which became one of the most outstanding groups of the Fusion movement and in 1981 they formed "Quest".Since 2000, Richie Beirach has lived in Leipzig and holds a professorship for Jazz piano at the Leipzig conservatory "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy". NYC flutist/composer and Sunnyside Records artist Jamie Baum, has toured 28 countries and performed with artists as diverse as George Russell, Randy Brecker, Donald Brown, Mick Goodrick, Dave Douglas, Ralph Alessi, Uri Caine, Dave Binney and Wadada Leo Smith. Voted #1 Rising Star Flutist in 2012 by DownBeat, she's been nominated by the Jazz Journalists Association for "Flutist of the Year" six times. There is a $25 cover.
BOSTON: ALFREDO RODRIGUEZ TRIO AT SCULLERS
The Alfredo Rodriguez Trio, featuring bassist Peter Slavov and drummer Henry Cole, will perform at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB (400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111) on Thursday, March 6th at 8:00 pm. A key player in Rodriguez' extraordinary story is producer Quincy Jones, who co-produced Sounds Of Space with Rodriguez. In turn, for Rodriguez, 26, Jones has not only become a mentor and a teacher but "like a new father." Still, such priceless endorsement can also create impossibly high expectations. But in Sounds Of Space, Rodriguez proves up to the challenge. Dinner/Show: $65 Show only: $25.
TORONTO: GRANT STEWART - BERNIE SENENSKY QUARTET
Grant Stewart and the Bernie Senensky Quartet (Grant Stewart - tenor saxophone, Bernie Senensky - piano, Neil Swainson - bass, Phil Stewart - drums) perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday through Saturday, March 7th through 9th at 9:00 pm. Since moving to New York City at the age of 19, Toronto-born Grant Stewart has studied with such masters as Donald Byrd, Barry Harris, and Joe Lovano, and performed with Curtis Fuller, Jon Hendricks, Clark Terry, Etta Jones, Bill Charlap, Frank Gant, Dan Barret, Bob Mover, Brad Mehldau, Russell Malone, Larry Goldings, Peter Bernstein, Jimmy Cobb, Harry Connick, Mickey Roker, Arthur Harper, Jimmy Lovelace, Cecil Payne, Dick Hyman, Herb Geller and was a member of the last Al Grey Sextet. Stewart can be found playing at such clubs in NY as Birdland, Smoke, The Ketano, The Jazz Standard, Fat Cat and can be heard every Tuesday night at Smalls Jazz Club. Stewart has performed all over North America and Europe as well as in Japan, Brazil and Taiwan. There is a $15 cover.

MARYLAND: NEXT BEST THING PRESENTS: THE MUSIC OF JOHN DENVER
Ted Vigil brings his show 'The Music Of John Denver' to BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Thursday, March 6th at 8:00 pm. He is joined by special guest Steve Weisberg, John Denver's lead guitar player from the 70's. Ted is a singer, songwriter and a tribute artist. He was born in Seattle and raised in the Olympia area. He has been performing from the age of ten throughout school in concert, symphonic and jazz bands developing his talents as a drummer and singer. In 2006 he went on to Laughlin, NV to compete in the Talent Quest 2006 involving 28 states, New Zealand, Australia and Canada taking first place. He then went on to win Komo TV 4's NW Afternoon Celebrity Look Alike contest. Ted now performs nationwide for all kinds of venues and events. He has wowed the crowd selling out theatres in Pennsylvania and Kansas and has played twice now for John Denver's own "Windstar Foundation" in Aspen, CO. Ted cruised the Caribbean with Darryl Worley and Jimmy Wayne on a "Travelin' Inc. country cruise hosted by Great American Countrys' own Storme Warren. Last year Ted was awarded the Rising Legend Award by the National Traditional Country Music Association. There is a $20 cover.
