NYC: SUNDAY JAZZ BRUNCH WITH GABRIELLE STRAVELLI

Bistro Award winning vocalist, Gabrielle Stravelli, returns with her Sunday Jazz Brunch on August 11th at LE PESCADEUX (90 Thompson Street, NYC - 212-966-0021), a French restaurant in the heart of Soho. They will play three sets from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be joined by Saul Rubin on guitar and Pat O'Leary on bass in this charming boite that offers a great, well-priced menu and cozy atmosphere. Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards by artists as varied as Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington, Dolly Parton and Johnny Mercer. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric. Gabrielle has performed on stages from Amsterdam to New York including Carnegie Hall, Iridium Jazz Club, Birdland, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Reservations are strongly suggested. No cover, no minimum.

NYC: BOB DOROUGH: SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK AT JOE'S PUB

Bob Dorough, the 90-year-old jazz legend, brings his School House Rock show to JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Sundays, March 2nd & 9th at noon. Dorough wrote "Three is a Magic Number" and dozens of other memorable songs for ABC TV's Schoolhouse Rock. His fans have included Miles Davis, Tom Waits, Dr. John, Jamie Cullum, Blossom Dearie, Diana Krall, and many, many more. Join the legendary Bob Dorough for an intimate set celebrating his many different forays into entertainment that have brought so much joy over the years. There is a $20 cover.

TORONTO: SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH PETER CAVANAGH & FELIX WONG

THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) presents Sunday Brunch With Peter Cavanagh & Felix Wong on Sunday, March 2nd at 12:30 pm. Peter Cavanagh is a jazz saxophonist in the Greater Toronto Area. His aspirations for music began at a young age. In high school Peter won an award for "Outstanding Jazz Soloist" at an international festival in New York. Peter's influences include Cannonball Adderley, Wynton Marsalis, Keith Jarrett, Dexter Gordon, Marcus Miller, Michael Brecker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Herbie Hancock, Chris Potter, Artie Shaw and many more. His musical interests lie in swing, bebop, modal jazz, funk and Latin jazz. Peter is also a skilled clarinet and flute player. Felix Wong is a Toronto based jazz pianist. He began playing the piano at the age of 4. He is a self-taught jazz musician. His many musical influences include Bill Evans, Esperanza Spalding, Michael Brecker, Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman, Jaco Pastorius and more. He is a former member of the Toronto All-Star Big Band, where he has performed with the legendary Doc Severinsen and Jackie Richardson. He has travelled with the band, performing venues such as Casa Loma, Old Mill Inn, the Beaches International Jazz Festival and more. He is currently a member of the Jazz FM 91.1 Big Band, where he has had the opportunity to perform with Joey Defrancesco. Felix was chosen to be a part of the 2013 Conn-Selmer Centerstage Jazz Band under the direction of Alex Dean, feautring some of the most outstanding young jazz players in Canada. Recently, he also performed in the TD Young Jazz Showcase in Port Hope, under the direction of Denny Christianson, where he opened for the All-Canadian Legends Renee Rosnes, P.J. Perry, Terry Clarke, and Neil Swainson. There is no cover charge.

LOS ANGELES: BROADWAY BRUNCH AT DON'T TELL MAMA

James Lent & James Mooney present The Broadway Brunch atDONT TELL MAMA LA (8279 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-380-7209 ) on Sundays December 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th with seatings at 11:30 am & 1:00 pm. The brunch features LA's Brightest singing Broadway's Best. There is no cover - 2 drink minimum or brunch.
