CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: BOOGALOO SUNDAY WITH LOU DONALDSON
Lou Donaldson will be performing at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Sunday, March 2nd with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. He performs with his world class Quartet (Lou Donaldson, alto saxophone, vocals; Akiko Tsuruga, Hammond B-3 organ; Randy Johnston, guitar; McClenty Hunter, drums) with whom he has been touring the world playing Festivals and club for the past two decades. Lou Donaldson played an absolutely invaluable role in the creation and building of the classic Blue Note Record Label, and the assembly and musical development of the the classic Jazz Messengers bands that originally featured Lou Donaldson, Clifford Brown, Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Gene Ramey, Hank Mobley, and many other of the greatest creative virtuosos of the this entire era of modern jazz expression. There is a $20-$30 cover.
