Celebrate Bill Charlap's 10th anniversary as Artistic Director as he returns with more than three dozen world-class jazz artists to celebrate the 30th annual Jazz in July Festival. NYC: JOHN PIZZARELLI & THE SWING SEVEN AT BIRDLAND

John Pizzarelli, the world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer, and The Swing Seven will perform atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, July 22nd through 26th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Son of the legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, New Jersey native John Pizzarelli has become one of the most recognizable faces and voices in contemporary jazz. John Pizzarelli has had a multi-faceted career as a jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, known around the world for the cool jazz flavor he brings to classic standards, late-night ballads, and each of his hugely entertaining live performances and masterful recordings. His most recent CD release, Rockin' In Rhythm, combines the enduring work of Duke Ellington with Pizzarelli's incredible ability to reinterpret the Great American Songbook. Rockin' In Rhythm is the follow up to Pizzarelli's critically-acclaimed 2008 release, With A Song In My Heart - John Pizzarelli Sings the Music of Richard Rodgers, which featured Don Sebesky's Grammy-nominated arrangement of "Johnny One Note." With his active touring schedule, Pizzarelli continues to charm audiences with his warmth, conversational humor, and musical moxie. There is a $45 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: THE WALLACE RONEY QUINTET AT THE BLUE NOTE

The Wallace Roney Quintet featuring Lenny White & Buster Williams will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Thursday through Sunday, July 24th through 27th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Wallace Roney earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues and his elders since age 16. He has been an integral part of the band with Tony Williams, Ornette Coleman, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Walter Davis Jr., Herbie Hancock, Jay McShann, David Murray, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins, Curtis Fuller, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Dizzy Gillespie to name a few. He was one of the few musicians in his generation who learned and perfected his craft directly from alliances with Jazz Masters. But his most important and meaningful relationship was with Miles Davis. Wallace was mentored by Miles Davis after Miles heard him in 1983 at his birthday gala performance in Carnegie Hall. Their association peaked when Miles chose Wallace to share the stage at his historic performance in Montreux in 1991. After Davis died, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams and Roney banded together and toured the world in tribute. There is a $20-$35 cover.

NYC: JON FADDIS QUARTET: 61ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT DIZZY'S

Legendary trumpeter Jon Faddis, protege of the great Dizzy Gillespie, celebrates his 61st birthday at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Thursday through Sunday, July 24th through 27th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. He is joined by Jon Faddis, trumpet; David Hazeltine, piano; Todd Coolman, bass; and Dion Parson, drums. Known for having an extraordinary and virtually unparalleled range, Faddis has complete mastery over the trumpet. He evokes the voices of Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Roy Eldridge, and, of course, Gillespie, all while remaining true to his own. Faddis' illustrious career has seen him perform with the best jazz musicians, including Lionel Hampton, Charles Mingus, and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. There is a $40-$45 cover.
