WASHINGTON, DC: BOHEMIAN CAVERNS PRESENTS JOHN KOCUR - ARTIST IN RESIDENCY
Alto saxophonist John Kocur is Artist in Residency during July at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Tuesday nights with shows at 7:30 & 9:00 pm. He is jooined by Cristian Perez, guitar; Charlie Himel, bass; and Andrew Hare, drums. Kocur is captivating new audiences by putting an adventurous yet accessible spin on a classic tradition. While highlighting original music, the group also creates unique interpretations of popular American songs from past and present. The group's style is an intimate, all-acoustic format, where the music takes center stage. Recent performances by the John Kocur Quartet have included venues such as Blues Alley, the Hamilton, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the DC Jazz Festival, Twins Jazz, and the Phillips Collection. There is a $15 cover.

Zambian born guitarist Robert Mwamba will perform atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Tuesday, July 22nd with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Mwambaclearly comes out of the great Jazz guitar tradition of Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Pat Martino, Rodney Jones and others. He also is thoroughly modern and contemporary in his approach and his playing often embraces elements of R&B, Latin, Blues, Soul and other musical genres. This versatility has enabled Mwamba to perform at Events for such diverse people as UN Secretary-Generals - Ban Ki Moon and Kofi Annan, the British Billionaire - Sir Richard Branson, Oscar Winning Actress - Mira Sorvino and Hip-Hop Mogul - Sean "Diddy" Combs "All White Party". Mwamba's Debut Album "Coastin'" comes out shortly and features Jazz heavyweights - Rodney Jones on Rhythm and Acoustic Guitar, Chip Crawford on Keyboards, Lonnie Plaxico on Bass, and Jaz Sawyer on Drums the whole Album.
