NEW HOPE, PA: LESLIE JORDAN WITH "SHOW PONY"

America is experiencing its very own special "night at the races" as one of American pop culture's most recognizable, enduring (and endearing) personalities rides into town, appearing at THE RRAZZ ROOM IN NEW HOPE (6426 Lower York Road, New Hope, PA - 888-596-1027) on Thursday through Saturday, July 24th through 26th at 8:00 pm. Galloping across the country with his latest on-stage, autobiographical romp, "SHOW PONY", Leslie Jordan, the diminutive, delightful Deep South dynamo saddles up for an evening of horse feathers hilarity with his new show; an at-the-crossroads of life, verbal essay conveyed through his own personal lamentations. "SHOW PONY" is Jordan's reflections on the never ending, relentless quest for sustainability and longevity in "La-La Land"; paying your dues, life on the road and embracing what it takes to truly stay in the race. HERNDON, VA: NEXTSTOP THEATRE SUMMER CABARET SERIES - SALLY MAYES

NextStop Theatre Company has announced the next bold, new offering in their ambitious inaugural season atNEXTSTOP THEATRE (269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, VA - 866-811-4111). Under the leadership of Series Producer, area based performing artist Jim Van Slyke, the company will present eighteen intimate concerts, featuring a eclectic mixture of Broadway stars, nationally acclaimed cabaret artists and some of the finest local singers in the DC Metropolitan area. Running from Friday, July 11th to Saturday, August 16th in the company's 114-seat black box theatre, audiences will be invited to grab a drink or snack from the bar and be transported for evenings featuring classics from musical theatre, jazz, rock, soul and even current hits. On Saturday, July 26th at 8:00 pm A Tony Award-nominated Sally Mayes will take the stage at NextStop. In addition to being a Tony Award-nominated actress, Sally is also an award-winning recording artist and singer.

NYC: PAT MARTINO ORGAN TRIO AT BLUES ALLEY

One of the greatest guitarists in jazz, Pat Martino, will appear at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Friday & Saturday, July 25th & 26th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Pat got his start on the "chitlin' circuit" in the 1960s with organ groups led by Richard "Groove" Holmes, Jack McDuff, Don Patterson, Trudy Pitts and Charles Earland. Having made a full and remarkable recovery from a life-threatening illness in the 1980's that caused him to forget how to play the guitar, Martino relearned by listening to his own early recordings and has re-emerged as a veteran presence on the jazz scene. Today Martino lives in his native Philadelphia and his playing is as fiery and technically brilliant as ever. Call for cover/minimum information.

WASHINGTON, DC: MARSHALL KEYS AT BOHEMIAN CAVERNS

Jazz saxophonist Marshall Keys will perform at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS(2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Friday & Saturday, July 25th & 26th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Marshall Keys' dulcet tones and earthy compositions conjure the spirits of jazzmen past and future. From mainstream to contemporary, from bebop to hip-hop, he plays the saxophone with a sense of grace and emotion that is wholly without cliche. Saxophonist Marshall Keys represents as high a level of musicianship as can be found anywhere, and his versatility and strong sense of melody have made him somewhat of an icon in his native Washington, DC. He interprets improvisational music in its many forms and his performance schedule reflects this diversity. Marshall has received a National Endowment for the Arts grant and was commissioned by the Smithsonian to perform the works of Wayne Shorter. He was guest performer and lecturer at the Romare Bearden Exhibit at the National Gallery of Art. There is a $20 cover.

BETHESDA, MD: "JOE CLAIR & FRIENDS" at BETHESDA BLUES

"Joe Clair & Friends" featuring comics Tony Woods, Nikki Carr and Eddie Bryant will be presented at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB(7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Saturday, July 26th with shows at 7:30 & 10:00 pm. Tony Woods is a one-of-a-kind comedic legend that is always in control of his audience. A seasoned veteran in the comedy business, Tony is recognized not only by fans but by his peers as one of the best and most engaging comedians in the business. Nikki Carr was raised by a single mom who asked her daily why she was so silly all the time, but never told her to stop, thus setting the course for the successful stand-up comedy career she enjoys today.Her trials and tribulations as a woman, mother, grandmother and lesbian have provided rich comic material for Carr, and she's woven it all into fiercely funny performances. Eddie Bryant of Starz "1st Amendment Stand-Up" is no stranger to Bethesda Blues and Jazz. He was there a few weeks ago, performing for a charity event.
