The 92nd ST Y (1395 Lexington Avenue, NYC - 212-415-5500) presents JAZZ IN JULY, running from Tuesday, July 22nd through Thursday, July 31st. Featuring the sounds of Hoagy Carmichael, Leonard Bernstein, Miles Davis, Dick Hyman, Sarah Vaughan and Fred Astaire. Celebrate Bill Charlap's 10th anniversary as Artistic Director as he returns with more than three dozen world-class jazz artists to celebrate the 30th annual Jazz in July Festival. What better reason to stay in the city for the summer than to hear Jazz in July founder Dick Hyman plus beloved jazz greats Jimmy Greene, Jeremy Pelt, Ken Peplowski and more! Jazz in July kicks off on Tuesday, July 22nd at 8:00 pm as the songs of singular American composer Hoagy Carmichael are launched to new improvisatory heights. NYC: JOHN PIZZARELLI & THE SWING SEVEN AT BIRDLAND

John Pizzarelli, the world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer, and The Swing Seven will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, July 22nd through 26th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Son of the legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, New Jersey native John Pizzarelli has become one of the most recognizable faces and voices in contemporary jazz. John Pizzarelli has had a multi-faceted career as a jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, known around the world for the cool jazz flavor he brings to classic standards, late-night ballads, and each of his hugely entertaining live performances and masterful recordings. His most recent CD release, Rockin' In Rhythm, combines the enduring work of Duke Ellington with Pizzarelli's incredible ability to reinterpret the Great American Songbook. Rockin' In Rhythm is the follow up to Pizzarelli's critically-acclaimed 2008 release, With A Song In My Heart - John Pizzarelli Sings the Music of Richard Rodgers, which featured Don Sebesky's Grammy-nominated arrangement of "Johnny One Note." With his active touring schedule, Pizzarelli continues to charm audiences with his warmth, conversational humor, and musical moxie. There is a $45 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: PAT MARTINO ORGAN TRIO AT THE BLUE NOTE

One of the greatest guitarists in jazz, Pat Martino, will appear at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) in Tuesday & Wednesday, July 22nd & 23rd with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Pat got his start on the "chitlin' circuit" in the 1960s with organ groups led by Richard "Groove" Holmes, Jack McDuff, Don Patterson, Trudy Pitts and Charles Earland. Having made a full and remarkable recovery from a life-threatening illness in the 1980's that caused him to forget how to play the guitar, Martino relearned by listening to his own early recordings and has re-emerged as a veteran presence on the jazz scene. Today Martino lives in his native Philadelphia and his playing is as fiery and technically brilliant as ever. There is a $20-$35 cover.

NYC: THE MARCUS BELGRAVE QUINTET FEATURING JOAN BELGRAVE AT DIZZY'S

The Marcus Belgrave Quintet Featuring vocalist Joan Belgrave will perform atDIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Tuesday & Wednesday, July 22nd & 23rd with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Joining him are Marion Hayden, bass; Gayelynn McKinney, drums; Ian Finkelstein, piano; and Marcus Elliott, tenor saxophone. Trumpeter Marcus Belgrave is Detroit's official Jazz Master Laureate. Mentored by Ray Charles and Clifford Brown, Belgrave came to prominence in the late-1950s with Ray Charles' original small band. Belgrave was at the vanguard of the modern jazz movement in the 1960s, performing and recording with innovators like Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, and Max Roach. An avid mentor, Belgrave believes in grooming the next generation of jazz musicians. His proteges include violinist Regina Carter, bassist Robert Hurst, and saxophonist Kenny Garrett. There is a $35 cover.
