INDIANAPOLIS, IN: KAREN IRWIN TO RETURN IN JANIS JOPLIN TRIBUTE
After two sold out shows, Karen Irwin is back at THE CABARET AT THE COLUMBIA CLUB (121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN - 317-275-1169) on Friday, June 25th at 8:00 and Saturday, July 26th at 7:00 pm to take you on a rockin' musical journey through her personal transformation as inspired by Janis Joplin. Her show "A Piece of Her Heart: A Tribute to Janis Joplin" includes anecdotes and Joplin songs including "Mercedes Benz," and "Bobby McGee," Irwin pays homage to the musical icon that changed her life. Karen Irwin, Indianapolis native and super-committed artist, has a long history in the performing arts. Her acting talents (honed very early on by every class Indianapolis offered) took her to prison as well as to New York City, where she received the Best Actress in a Play award at the Midtown International Theatre Festival. Local audiences may remember her from her starring role in Assholes & Aureoles (an IndyFringe prize-winner), plays at The Phoenix Theatre, or from countless evenings bringing true heart to karaoke with her years of Karenoke, mentoring and generally bossing her audiences into submission.
