Tonight he will take on the demanding music of bebop pioneer Fats Navarro, which means these sets will be fast-paced, playfully technical, and relentlessly swinging. They will also be a perfect demonstration of jazz lineage; Fats Navarro is known not only for his work with improvising innovators like Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, but also for his great influence on players like Clifford Brown, whom Harris credits as a main influence in his own development. In this sense, while the young star reaches back to his musical roots through the music of Fats Navarro, he will also exemplify our mantra all jazz is modern. There is a $25 cover.
