WASHINGTON D.C.: THE BOHEMIAN CAVERNS JAZZ ORCHESTRA MONDAYS
The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra performs every Monday night at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Still the Hottest Big Band in the City, The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece powerhouse force cofounded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown. The BCJO presents a variety of music from big band literature and features some of the District's best musicians. Music from Ellington, Basie, Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members will embrace and challenge the tradition of big band repertoire. SAN FRANCISCO: STRUNZ & FARAH AT YOSHI'S
World-jazz acoustic guitarists Strunz & Farah, from Costa Rica and Iran respectively, will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600 ) on Monday, May 26th at 8:00 pm. Strunz & Farah have pioneered their authentic Latin & Middle Eastern fusion since 1979. They have been nominated for a Grammy in world music, have had three recordings at or near the top of the Billboard world music charts, and have received two presidential awards from the government of Costa Rica for their cultural contributions. They are regarded as among the world's top acoustic guitar players and have originated an extremely influential style of exotic improvisational guitar playing that reflects their ethnic roots. These renowned master instrumentalists are accompanied by a top flight ensemble of rhythm section and flute. Dinner/Show: $62 Show only: $27.
