TORONTO: SUNDAY NIGHT CABARET WITH JULIE MICHELS
Jazz vocalist Julie Michels will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, May 25th at 7:00 pm. As a baby, Julie Michels hummed in key with the radio and she hasn't stopped since! Her musical journey has seen her studying with Jazz bass legend, Richard Davis and singing in Europe, and all over North America. She's settled in Toronto, and has become an important member of the Toronto Jazz scene known for her ability to vocalize soulfully while telling the story of a song flows effortlessly. Julie has performed, toured and recorded with Kevin Barrett, George Koller, Ottawa's Chelsea Bridge, the MCCT Choir (Diane Leah, Musical Director) and her own bands, Sutra and Parlay. One of her greatest honours was to perform at the State Funeral for the late, Jack Layton, Leader of the NDP of Canada.
For this performance, Julie will be joined by one of the finest pianists in the country: David Restivo. There is a $15 cover.

TORONTO: IN THE JAZZ CELLAR: JAZZED UP WITH JEREMY WALMSLEY
Actor/ Singer/ Dancer/ Musician Jeremy Walmsley will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) in the 3rd floor "Jazz Cellar" Lounge on Sunday, May 25th at 8:00 pm. Walmsley is based in Toronto but originally hails from Winnipeg. Jeremy has performed on stages all across Canada and the US. He also has been seen on TV shows such as Todd and the book of Pure Evil and Less Than Kind. Jremy's music life is a mix of Jazz, R&B, Pop, Soul and Blues. Ranging from vocals, guitar, piano, bass and his first love, percussion. He is inspired by rhythm and infuses it in all aspects of his music. There is a $10 cover.
WASHINGTON, DC: SHARON CLARK "MISBEHAVING"
Washington, D.C. standout Sharon Clark will perform atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Sunday, May 25th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Sharon has brought festival and concert audiences to their feet across the U.S. and Europe. Ms. Clark makes her debut in Israel this spring as part of another multi-country tour. WASHINGTON, DC: LEGENDS OF JAZZ SERIES WITH RON CARTER
Ron Carter will perform at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Friday through Sunday, May 23rd through 25th at 7:30 pm as part of the Legends of Jazz series. Ron Carter is among the most original, prolific, and influential bassists in jazz. With more than 2,000 albums to his credit, he has recorded with many of music's greats: Tommy Flanagan, Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, the Kronos Quartet, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, and Bobby Timmons. In the early 1960s he performed throughout the United States in concert halls and nightclubs with Jaki Byard and Eric Dolphy. He later toured Europe with Cannonball Adderley. From 1963 to 1968, he was a member of the classic and acclaimed Miles Davis Quintet. He was named Outstanding Bassist of the Decade by the Detroit News, Jazz Bassist of the Year by Downbeat magazine, and Most Valuable Player by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
