NYC: MARTIN BOWE & JOHN BUHTA - "BAND PRACTICE"
FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT

Martin Bowe & John Buhta will bring their show "Band practice" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, May 28th at 7:00 pm. The show is a benefit performance for the Wildlife Conservation Society to help save the endangered African Forest Elephant. John and Mart met at the New York City Law Department a few years back, and discovered a common love of music. Lawyers by day and band mates by night, they play a mix of pop, standards, rock and show tunes. Both will be playing guitar and singing. Not able to resolve the dispute about whether they were "rehearsing" (Mart) or having "band practice" (John), they named their act Band Practice, for which they rehearse. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: JOAN PETRELLA AND DEBRA ALLEE RETURN TO THE MET

After their successful debuts last year, Joan Petrella and Debra Allee are returning toTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, May 28th at 9:30 pm with an evening of songs about travel, places, and journeys through life, drawn from the American songbook, musical theater, jazz and pop, with duets and solos. With stage direction by Teri Ralston, the well-known director, performer and teacher, and musical direction by jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, Dan Furman, the show will also feature bass and drums. NYC: NIKKI MACCALLUM AT THE DUPLEX IN 'FAMILIAR THINGS'
Nikki MacCallum returns to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - ) on Thursday, May 28th at 7:00 pm with her new cabaret 'FamiliarThings'. The show highlights the music of Kander & Ebb. With music direction and arrangements by Mark Hartman and direction by Kelvin Moon Loh, the show takes us from familiar childhood memories that one-day become unfamiliar to the unfamiliar challenges of adulthood that one-day become familiar. Throw in a middle school performance of Mr. Cellophane and Sara Lee as an eleven o'clock snack number and you have Familiar Things. The piece began development at the Eugene O'Neill Cabaret Conference this past summer, which was under the direction of John McDaniel. Nikki last performed at The Duplex in her show 'Matchmaker Matchmaker I'm Willing to Settle!' which earned a 2011 MAC Award Nomination. She was most recently featured at Birdland along side Donna McKechnie and Jerry Mitchell. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: LIFE, LOVE AND SONDHEIM WITH AARON SPIVEY

Aaron Spivey will bring his show 'Life, Love and Sondheim" to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-54380) on Wednesday, May 28th at 9:30 pm. Aaron has survived living in NYC for over 15 years and he wants to sing about it. With Mark Hartman on piano, he recounts his big city adventures while singing some of his favorite songs by Stephen Sondheim. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MAJOR SCALES' MINOR BREAKDOWN

Pianist/performer/ man-about-town Major Scales, co-writer and co-creator of The Vaudevillians with Jinkx Monsoon, returns to New York and THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) to premiere his latest creation, Major Scales' Minor Breakdown: Songs Not Ready For Broadway. Major Scales' Minor Breakdown: Songs Not Ready For Broadway is an evening of the prolific composer's original songs for his original Broadway shows that have yet to be written. Be one of the first to hear these never-before-staged songs in search of a musical! Major Scales is the evil twin of Richard Andriessen, a musician, writer and performer based in Seattle. NYC: KATIE FINNERAN IN IT MIGHT BE YOU - A FUNNY LADY'S SEARCH FOR HOME

Katie Finneran, the two-time Tony Award-winning Broadway and TV star, will make her cabaret debut at54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) with the show It Might Be You - A Funny Lady's Search for Home on Wednesday & Thursday, May 28th & 29th at 7:00 pm; Friday & Saturday, May 30th & 31st at 8:30 pm; with a late show on Saturday at 11:00 pm. Endearing, brilliantly funny and always entertaining, Katie gives us a peek into the life of a performer juggling Hollywood, Broadway and starting a family. Singing an eclectic array of songs and sharing extraordinary backstage stories, Katie takes us on a comical and poignant pilgrimage to her greatest destination yet: home. Expect to hear songs ranging from Stephen Sondheim to Ingrid Michaelson, with homages to Betty Hutton and Julie Andrews in between. The evening will be directed by Katie's longtime pal, Broadway's Andrea Burns (The Nance, In the Heights) and will feature musical direction by Steve Marzullo. NYC: RITA HARVEY MAKES HER 54 BELOW DEBUT

Rita Harvey will perform at54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, May 28th at 9:30 pm. From playing the lead role of Christine in both the Broadway and national touring companies of The Phantom of the Opera to playing the role of Hodel in the Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof opposite Harvey Fierstein and Rosie O'Donnell, Rita Harvey's career has spanned many vocal styles. Rita recently appeared as Diana in TheatreSquared's production of Next to Normal. Rita is the principal soprano in Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway, which was voted the number one touring Broadway concert in the country, playing in large performing arts centers all across the country. Rita has also played Feinstein's, The Rainbow Room, Joe's Pub and the Hard Rock Cafe, among others. Rita is trained in opera but has made a career on the Broadway and concert stage. Her 54 Below debut show will reflect the many styles of music that have influenced her through the years, including pop, jazz standards and musical theater standards, as well as new original songs, folky singer-songwriter fare and even an opera surprise. There is a $25-$35 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE

59E59 Theaters presents the US premiere of SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE, created by Simon Green and David Shrubsole, performed by Mr. Green, with musical arrangement and accompaniment by Mr. Shrubsole. The show explores paths un-trod, mistakes repeated, and ridiculous responses to an ever-changing world. Simon Green and David Shrubsole cast their gaze over life's rude awakenings. Reteaming after their Drama Desk-nominated Traveling Light, Green and Shrubsole concoct a theatrical marriage of words and music that transports audiences to a former, more innocent incarnation of themselves. Simon Green: So, This Then Is Life begins performances at 59E59 THEATERS(59 East 59th Street, NYC - 212-279-4200) on Tuesday, May 20th for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 1st. Simon's cabarets, with musical director and arranger, David Shrubsole, are familiar in London's major cabaret venues and have played New York at Feinstein's, The Metropolitan Room, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall and the 59E59 TheatersPress opening is Thursday, May 22 at 7:15 pm. NYC: MEGAN HILTY AT THE CAFE CARLYLE

Broadway's Megan Hilty will perform at THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600) on Tuesdays through Saturday, May 27th through June 7th at 8:45 pm, with a late show on Saturdays at 10:45 pm. Megan Kathleen Hilty is an American musical theatre and television actress, and singer. She rose to prominence for her roles in several Broadway musicals including her performance as Glinda in Wicked and her portrayal of Doralee Rhodes in 9 to 5: The Musical. Her best known role was as Ivy Lynn on the 2012-2013 musical-drama TV series Smash, on which she sang many original songs, including the Grammy Award-nominated "Let Me Be Your Star". She last appeared in the TV sitcom Sean Saves the World. There is a %50-$80 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum. (VIP: $120-$130)
