It was sixty years ago that Massey Hall was host to what has been forever heralded as "The Greatest Jazz Concert Ever". For one glorious night, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Bud Powell and Charles Mingus left an indelible mark on the history of jazz in Toronto and throughout the world. It was the only time these five giants of jazz recorded as a unit, and the last recorded meeting of Parker and Gillespie. The audience was small)the checks bounced)but the music was legend.
