CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: THE RETURN OF MONTGOMERY, MAYES & STRITCH

CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: THE RETURN OF MONTGOMERY, MAYES & STRITCH

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to present the long-awaited return of MONTGOMERY, MAYES & STRITCH, the vocal trio starring Sharon Montgomery, Sally Mayes and Billy Stritch, at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm. This is a one-night-only celebration and concert, produced by Matt Berman. Thirty-two yearsago, three crazy kids from the University of Houston (Sharon Montgomery, SallyMayes and Billy Stritch) formed a unique and hilarious jazz vocal trio. Unableto mutually agree on a name for their new venture, they dubbed themselves •Montgomery, Mayes & Stritch, and soon took Texas nightclubs and theaters by storm. Their success led to smash engagements in Newport, RI and on the New York cabaret scene. Since that charmed time, they've each gone on to have very successful solo careers, but for one nightonly, they'll recreate their special brand of harmony and humor! Sharon Montgomery is Houston's leading female jazz and swing singer and works with small groups, big bands and symphony orchestras throughout the country. She has also acted in many top regional venues including Houston's famed Alley Theater. Sally Mayes is a Tony Award nominee for her critically acclaimed performance in the 1993 Broadway revival of She Loves Me and was an original cast member of Maltby and Shire's off-Broadway revue Closer Than Ever. She performs in concerts throughout the country and has numerous solo CDs to her credit. Billy Stritch is one of New York's leading singer/pianists and is musical director for Liza Minnelli, Linda Lavin and Marilyn Maye. He appeared on Broadway in the 2001 revival of 42nd Street and has been touring the country with his tribute to the legendary Mel Torme. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
