AFTERNOON CABARET L.A.: KAREN GIORGIO COMES TO PALM DESERT'S NEWMAN THEATER
San Diego singer Karen Giorgio will make her Desert debut in a new one-woman cabaret style concert of her show "Trains & Boats & Plains, Oh My" on Sunday, June 23rd at 2:00 pm at THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER THEATRE (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731 - ). The show evolves around Karen's antics on stage and episodes in her life, which resulted in her sub-titling it "Confessions of a globe-trotting songtress" and features standards and jazz tunes from the Great American Songbook, Broadway, and movie musicals. Formerly a traveling performer, Ms. Giorgio is now a regular staple in and around the San Diego entertainment scene, as well as Los Angeles. She is used to playing piano and singing piano bar style but with this show Karen will be joined by noted musical director Shelly Markham, who is well-known for his contributions to numerous musicals as well as long-time pianist to a roster of singers such as Andrea Marcovicci, making Shelly an avid globe-trotter himself. The show is being presented by Les Michaels as part of the Life Is A Cabaret Sundays In Summer Series and The Joslyn Center. There is a $10 cover.
