NYC: SOWETO KINCH TRIO AT DIZZY'S TONIGHT
The Soweto Kinch Trio will perform at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595 - ) on Tuesday, June 25th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm in Collaboration with Made in the UK Jazz Concert Series. One of the most experimental and potentially divisive acts to perform at Dizzy's, the Soweto Kinch Trio features a combination of out-but-accessible hard bop, slightly further out jazz, and jazz-infused, avant-garde hip-hop. Kinch has been making waves and winning awards in both the British jazz and hip-hop scenes for years, sometimes performing solely as a rapper, other times as a saxophonist, but most frequently and most interestingly as a two-tiered powerhouse alternating between the two roles. With an abundance of creativity both musically and ideologically Kinch offers a unique, intelligent, and thought-provoking musical experience. There is a $30 cover.
