Grande Absente & Air France Present Django Reinhardt NY Festival "Young Lions of Gypsy Jazz" at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) Tuesday through Sunday, June 25th through 30th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Featuring Samson Schmitt (guitar) with Ludovic Beier (accordion), Pierre Blanchard (violin), Doudou Cuillerier (rhythm guitar), Brian Torff (bass), plus Kruno (guitar). Special Guests Include Peter Beets (piano, 6/25-26), David Langlois (washboards, 6/27), Anat Cohen (sax/clarinet, 6/28), Edmar Castaneda (harp, 6/29-30). Produced by Pat Philips & Ettore Stratta. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
