Saxophonist Dee Lucas brings his show Rebirth of the Smooth Concert to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Sunday, June 23rd at 7:00 pm. Once considered one of the country's best kept secrets, soprano saxophonist Dee Lucas has evolved and catapulted onto the music scene. After launching his well-received 2004 debut CD, "Remembrance", a tribute to legendary saxophonist George Howard, Lucas has been greeted both nationally and internationally with stunning reviews, garnered extensive airplay, and consistently climbed the charts. Lucas has developed and polished his distinctive style by collaborating energy to his smooth infectious melodic tunes, thus branding his timeless sound in the Contemporary Jazz market. With his brand new release of "Rebirth of the Smooth", saxophonist Dee Lucas visions this CD as a celebration on what he has accomplished in his short but steadily rising career, but it also indicates his direction in Contemporary Jazz. It offers a wide array of styles pushing the envelope in this already competitive genre of jazz. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
