NYC: FRANK TORREN - MOMENT TO MOMENT

2014 MAC AWARD nominee (Best Male Vocalist) Frank Torren will reprise his acclaimed 2013 show 'Moment to Moment' at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sunday, May 4th at 4:00 pm; and Wednesdays, May 7th & 14th at 7:00 pm. Musical Director is Rick Unterberg. Theater has been a major part of Frank Torren's life since he was a young lad in the Latin Quarter of Tampa, Florida. His first theatrical pursuit was the lead in the school play, "The Little Dog Laughed." Soon he had teamed up with his sister to perform a dance act which toured all over and even was invited to a festival in Cuba. Over the years, Frank has devoted his professional life to theater, appearing in many musical comedies including Room Service, Say Darling, The Desk Set, Reluctant Debutante, Mary Mary, and the role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. He performed with Diana Sands and Julius La Rosa in the first national tour of Hallelujah, Baby; had a costarring role in Zorba with Michael Kermoyan and Vivian Blaine; performed with Ann Reinking in Anything Goes and Jan Peerce in Fiddler on the Roof; toured in the National company of Seesaw with John Raitt and Liz Torres. Now Frank Torren's autobiographical show goes into its second chapter with "Moment to Moment." It's a whole new cavalcade of carefully-selected songs that have much professional and personal meaning for Frank. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: DANIELLE TOLEP IN "MOTHERHOOD ON THE ROCKS"

Just in time for Mother's Day, singer/ actress Danielle Tolep brings her new show, "Motherhood on the Rocks" a frequently poignant, and sometimes irreverent take on motherhood, to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) for two performances: Friday & Sunday, May 2nd & 4th at 7:00 pm. She is joined by musical director Ricky Ritzel and director Kevin Scott Hall. Currently a New Jersey housewife raising two young boys, Danielle nevertheless has performed on regional stages and in cabaret clubs over the years. Favorite musical theater roles include Maria in "The Sound of Music," Anna in "The King and I," and Aldonza in "Man of LaMancha." Danielle has previously appeared in her own shows at Danny's Skylight Room and The Duplex. She will perform both familiar and obscure material from musical theater and pop, as well as a couple of song parodies. NYC: LOVE IS LOVE TO BENEFIT MATTHEW SHEPARD FOUNDATION

The Seeing Place Theater, known for intense & intimate ensemble work, is producing a benefit fundraiser to support Matthew Shepard Foundation and their upcoming production of THE LARAMIE PROJECT on Sunday, May 4that 9:30 pm at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). Special guest is Randi Driscoll - an award winning singer/ songwriter who has shared the stage with Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Bruce Hornsby, Cyndi Lauper, Dave Koz, Jason Mraz, Pat Benetar, Rufas Wainwright and numerous others. Joining Ms Driscoll are NY cabaret mainstay Erin Cronican, The Seeing Place's Artistic Director Brandon Walker, and ensemble members Logan Keeler, Jessica Kelly and Edward Tolve. These fine performers will be sharing hilarious and touching songs on the themes of love and adversity, ranging between the musical styles of rock, pop, jazz and musical theater. The music director for the evening will be Sarah Brett England. Funds from this event will, in part, go to benefit The Seeing Place's upcoming production of THE LARAMIE PROJECT, an ensemble play opening June 13, 2014. THE LARAMIE PROJECT is a deeply complex portrait of a community's response to the death of gay student Matthew Shepard, a hate crime that led to the largest national conversation about tolerance in American history. This play uniquely demonstrates the power of the human spirit to triumph over bigotry and violence. Written by Moises Kaufman and the members of Tectonic Theatre Project. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: SARA ZAHN: "THE CAHN FILM FESTIVAL"

Sara Zahn brings her show "THE CAHN FILM FESTIVAL" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sundays, May 4th & 11th at 7:00 pm, featuring the shows of Sammy Cahn written for the movies. Musical director is Christopher Denny and the show is directed by Barry Kleinbort. Sammy Cahn, the legendary songwriter, grew up as a poor kid in Brooklyn and ended up in Hollywood writing songs for for iconic movie stars: Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and Julie Andrews, to name a few. For his contributions, Sammy was nominated twenty six times for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, more than ANY other songwriter... EVER. He won four times, placing him with the top winners of all time alongside Alan Menken, Johnny Mercer, and Jimmy Van Heusen (one of Sammy's longtime collaborators) As a veteran professional since age 4, Sara Zahn has been working in show business for over 50 years. During the last 25 years she has garnered critical acclaim as an international performer, award-winning songwriter and familiar singing voice on TV shows, animated films, jingles and voiceovers. Her many cabaret shows, including tributes to Leonard Bernstein, Charles Strouse, Carolyn Leigh and Sammy Cahn, have garnered her a Backstage Bistro Award, for Outstanding Female Vocalist and The Hanson Award from MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs), as well as participation in The Berkshire and American Music Theatre Festivals. Performances at Rainbow and Stars, The Russian Tea Room, Tavern on the Green, and a three month engagement headlining at famed jazz club Michael's Pub plus numerous performances in the Lyrics and Lyricists series at the 92nd St Y, have made her a triple threat in the worlds of cabaret, theatre and jazz. NYC: THE SCHOOL AT STEPS - "TAPPER ON THE ROOF"

The School at Steps Presents "Tapper on the Roof" at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Sunday, May 4th at 6:30 pm. Performed by students in the Song & Dance Workshops, "Tapper on the Roof" shares the stories of five teenagers as they face the decision to follow their dreams fueled by the mantra of a pop star, or their families traditions. NYC: SCOTT TUCKER MAKES SOLO CABARET DEBUT AT THE BEECHMAN

Scott Tucker makes his solo cabaret debut with his show 'Return Address' at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Sundays, April 27th at 4:00 pm and May 4th at 7:00 pm. Scott will explore the meaning of home. Is it a place, a connection or something further out of reach? And how far do you need to journey to find it? Musical director is Jeff Cubetta, with direction by Eric Michael Gillett. There is a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: MAXINE LINEHAN: AN AMERICAN JOURNEY

After a sold out performance at BIRDLAND, actress/singer Maxine Linehan will next present a limited run of her solo show An American Journey, A universal story told through song, at TERMINUS RECORDING STUDIOS (723 Seventh Avenue, NYC). Performances are on Sundays & Wednesdays, April 27th through May 14th, all shows at 7:00 pm. For this event, Terminus will be converted into a "pop-up cabaret performance space". The theatrical concert was conceived for Maxine and is being directed by Scott Siegel, with musical direction by the award-winning Tracy Stark and decor by Christopher Studley. The Irish born Ms. Linehan, serves up a story that is both achingly personal and extraordinarily universal. In this one-hour performance, using a diverse catalogue of music that includes show tunes, country, and pop, she tells the story of leaving Ireland twelve years ago for life in America. Maxine taps into the shared experience of generation after generation of immigrants who have arrived in this country with big dreams and high hopes. What happens when a brash, cynical, inappropriate former child star finds out she's pregnant with a kid she never planned on? She becomes a brash, cynical, inappropriate mother. Making her 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) debut, Tony Award winner Daisy Eagan (The Secret Garden, James Joyce's The Dead), uses edgy humor and some of her favorite music to tell the story of going from Broadway Baby to Hollywood Mama. NYC: JIM CARUSO & BILLY STRITCH RETURN TO BEMELMANS BAR

Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return toBEMELMAN'S BAR at the CARLYLE(35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-570-7189) with their evening of swinging standards running every Sunday in April and May, from 9:00 pm to midnight. The two performers, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the wildly popular open mic, Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally. During their 2013 debut runs at Bemelmans, the duo received critical acclaim, and made news when showbiz heavy-hitters like Liza Minnelli and Michael Feinstein joined them in impromptu performances. In their upcoming Carlyle run, Caruso and Stritch will be joined by bassist Steve Doyle. There is a $15-$25 cover.
