TORONTO: SUNDAY CABARET: "EINS, ZWEI, DREI, BOUM!" MARY PITT & DAVID WARRACK
Eins, Zwei, Drei, Boum! is a quirky cabaret in three languages (English, French and German) about - well, just about everything. Mary Pitt & David Warrack will bring it to THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, May 4th at 7:00 pm. You'll hear familiar tunes, some in languages you weren't expecting and some new ones too. They have performed the cabaret throughout Ontario to rave reviews. Mary is a Dora nominated performer who has appeared in theatres across Canada including: Caroline or Change/Acting Up Stage; Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods/ Canadian Stage; Sunday in the Park with George/Equity Showcase; Man of LaMancha,The Miracle Worker, Gypsy/Stratford Festival; Anne of Green Gables/The Charlottetown Festival. She also performs in feature films and television. David Warrack was born in Calgary, and first performed on radio when he was five. It's pretty much been non-stop since then. He has conducted orchestras across Canada from Halifax to Vancouver and most cities in between, and served as Musical Director for hundreds of productions on television, radio and stage - including Broadway. For 15 years, he was the conductor, musical director and piano accompanist of the legendary Maureen Forrester, and regularly performs with many of the great singers in Canadian musical theatre. Over 70 of Mr. Warrack's musicals have been produced, including some of the longest running shows in Canadian theatre history. There is a $20 cover.
WASHINGTON, D.C.: JOHN PIZZARELLI AT BLUES ALLEY
John Pizzarelli, American jazz guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and bandleader, will perform at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday through Sunday, May 1st through 4th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. John Pizzarelli has established himself as one of the prime interpreters of the Great American Songbook and beyond, bringing to his work the cool jazz flavor of his brilliant guitar playing and singing. For Pizzarelli though, his hero and foundation was Nat "King" Cole and the comparison to his iconic trio is the highest of compliments. He has had a lengthy career as a recording artist, performing for a variety of labels that include Telarc Records, RCA Records and Chesky Records, among others. He has recorded twenty-three albums of his own, as well as other joint recordings with his father, Bucky Pizzarelli. Additionally, he has appeared on more than forty albums of other recording artists, including those of Sir Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Rosemary Clooney and his wife, Jessica Molaskey.

Carolyn Malachi performs atBOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Sunday, May 4th at 7:30 pm. Carolyn Malachi combines straight-ahead Jazz, Hip Hop, Spoken Word, and lots of imagination. The independent, Grammy nominated artist and great-granddaughter of Jazz pianist John Malachi counts Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def), Radiohead, and Sarah Vaughan among her greatest influences. Malachi promotes education through partnerships with the School Fund, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, FIAT and the Recording Academy. In 2013 Carolyn Malachi released a full-length album, GOLD.
