He is currently an artist in residence at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of Miami. Dave Holland is an English jazz double bassist, composer and bandleader who has been performing and recording for five decades. He has lived in the United States for over 40 years. NYC: THE DIZZY GILLESPIE ALL-STARS AT THE BLUE NOTE

The Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars return to THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Tuesday through Sunday, October 21st through 26th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. History has produced its share of great artists and great people - John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie was both. As a performer, he left behind an incredible record of innovation and inspiration; as a composer, a broad repository of musical masterpieces; and as a man, a legion of friends, colleagues, and compatriots who remember him with the same degree of love and esteem they reserve for his work. The Dizzy Gillespie Big Band and smaller Alumni All-Star group are the direct descendants of Gillespie's musical ventures. The groups have featured some of Dizzy's closest compatriots: senior statesman and NEA Jazz Master James Moody; musical director John Lee; and veteran Gillespie alumni Roy Hargrove, Roberta Gambarini, Cyrus Chestnut, Steve Davis, and Willie Jones III. All of them are outstanding band leaders, educators, and recording artists in their own right. There is a $20-$35 cover.

NYC: JUILLIARD JAZZ ENSEMBLES AT DIZZY'S

The Juilliard School has been a destination for world-class music education since its founding, and these incredible young musicians will exemplify that legacy at Dizzy's. The Juilliard School Jazz Ensemble features some of the world's most talented emerging jazz artists, many of whom are already professional musicians. No stranger to Dizzy's Club, the ensemble has also performed at noted venues such as the Blue Note and Alice Tully Hall. These gifted young musicians are proof of jazz's bright future. There is a $25 cover.
