CHICAGO: LOGAN METZ QUINTET AT DAVENPORT'S

Logan Metz and his quintet will provide an evening of dirty, classic Jazz, Soul and Blues at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Thursday, October 23rd at 8:00 pm. While working as a musician in L.A., Metz played with the likes of Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson, and Bob Weir. His vocals have been described as sharing the same whiskey-soaked, smoke-damaged appeal of Tom Waits, and his stage persona lies somewhere between Columbo and a Baptist preacher. The hot jazz combo behind him includes Michael Vuona on drums, Sean Francois on bass, Omar Akhtar on guitar and Suzan Veneman on trumpet. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
